Am I going to have to get a facebook account? My wife is playing frontierville and she needs poles for her corral upgrade mission... Apparently, you can only get poles by asking neighbors for them. I think when you give a gift in frontierville, you get the same gift in return or something like that. Since her neighbors have already completed the missions she's currently working on, they have no incentive to give her the stuff she needs.

That is a crap design. I get that the point is to create a social game, but sometimes that thing seems ridiculous. Anyway, I might end up having to join facebook, just so I can play this game and donate the stuff she needs.

How much of a hassle is facebook gonna be? I've actively avoided it, and I'm truthfully not interested in using it. I call the people I want to talk to, or I come here and chat with them. I'm happy with that arrangement, and frankly, I don't want one more login to remember, and one more potentially public record of my online identity floating around.

Tips? Advice? I know some of you are on facebook, convince me I need to be on there, too. Tell me Hell has frozen over and that you're having to dodge aviary swine.

Have her just sign up again under a different email address. She can be her own neighbor.

    True on all accounts

If you put it off and are only setting up an account because you feel pressured to do so for a social game to support others, then you probably aren't going to give a rip about it once you are on there. I was there, I had an account, now I don't. I did the social games, I quit the social games, I still get complaints from my mom and some other friends that I quit Farmertown or whatever it was they were using. I made it so that they didn't have enough neighbors to build yada yada yada... thptptptptptpt

My advice - be anti-Nike. Just Don't do it.

    Yeup, Yepisode 2.

I was the same way, still am to an extent, but I have reconnected with several old college and high school friends I'd been wondering about.

Has my life dramatically changed one way or the other?
    Nope.

Has it been a mostly enjoyable thing. I guess.

I did the "active avoidance" thing too (in fact, I've still never been to a myspace page....ever...deliberately), but had some reasons to get on.

Just keep all your privacy settings as tight as they'll go. Treat it mostly like any other forum, if you don't want others to know it, don't make it public.
Here, talking about your underwear may get a laugh from your good friends, who are only doing it because you expected it, and move on.
There, it's a whole lot bigger environment.

If you do it right, it can be a good thing.

Besides, I could use a fishin' buddy, too......:D

I just finished watching the new Doctor Who episode, followed by the last episode of Torchwood: Children of earth. Brittish Sci-fi at its best!

    Speaking of good movies...
We watched Fitzwilly on netflix last night. Great movie. But then, I always did love a heist movie. Dick Van Dyke plays a butler who is running a petty theft ring to keep his aging boss accustomed to the lifestyle she's always had, without her knowing it. The boss hires the girl who played Agent 99 to help her write a dictionary (her pet project), and of course, mad-cap antics ensue. The movie had several "Hey! It's that guy that was in ______" moments in it, too, which I kind of enjoy.

Also watched a Peter Sellers heist movie: Two-way stretch. It was pretty good, too. I guess I was in a heist movie mode this weekend.

I can't account for why I picked Zardoz, though. It was actually better than I expected it to be. 9 kinds of weird, but it was deeper than I anticipated. Definitely not a movie for everyone.

Finished this yesterday. A friend I work with sent me a pic of her Bulldogge Gracie about two months ago and I liked the pic. Tomorrow is her birthday, so I put it on a translucent grape tray for her. Had to sneak the pics as she sits about 15 feet from me.
