Haven't tried one yet, but I have been keeping my eyes open for an affordable one. But, I think I really like the one you linked, that it can grind right into a Mason jar, that's a great idea!
I have a grinder kit bookmarked somewhere that I'm interested in getting and building my own grinder...someday

Cool! Looks old school. I've never tried one, but I like the looks of it. Here are a few others.

I have looked at the Camano one before. I have also looked at the Hario Skerton model. There was one place that had a whole bunch of reconditioned vintage Zass and other models, but my link isn't working.

I haven't taken the plunge on buying one yet. I keep putting them on my wishlists and keep getting other things instead.

The Hario was the other one I considered. I liked the larger capacity of the Camano as I often make a full pot of coffee on the weekends. Two very full fills of the hopper and I have enough grounds for a full pot. If it was just one or two cups every day, I think I'd have gone for the Hario. Now that I have the Camano, I'm glad I have it.

Hmm... I will keep that in mind. I was leaning towards the Hario because I am usually just using an aeropress. Very interesting. Maybe I should send out a green coffee bean / manual coffee grinder hints for Fathers Day gifts.

First off, $180 is a bit steep for a small digital camera, but dang this thing is sweet.

Second of all, found out yesterday through the automated notification system the school uses that we were having an awards ceremony tonight that would require sound. So, I spent the entire day basically building a new sound system for our gym using scrounged parts. It turns out that our music teacher had a metric butt-ton of sound equipment that was in her way, so I gladly took it off her hands. A full 8 hours of fighting sound gremlins and chasing bad cables and cussing malfunctioning amps, and I finally got a system put together that's tolerable. Then I went home, ate some quick supper and watched an episode of Mission Impossible to help me recharge my batteries, then went back to the gym to work sound.

Loaded up the ol' mp3 player, piped in some "The Sea & Sinbad's Ship" and let it play while people slowly filtered in. It was a bit more dramatic than I would have liked, but it was what I had on hand. Sound went well, the only person to compliment me on it was a sound guy who was there for a while today helping me get some things worked out. Oh well, that's about what I expected, if I had gotten an attaboy from any of the people in charge, I'd have been floored.

So fast forward to the end of the event, pipe in a little Borodin's Symphony #2, and watch as everyone filters out. Along with all the rest of the staff. Uhm, we've got microphones and sound equipment sitting out that need to be broken down and locked away folks. There's 3 ball games happening in here tomorrow and we need this stuff moved... anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

So, I spent another hour gathering up my equipment and moving it to more secure locations, turned out the lights, found a key to lock up with and got out of dodge. I'll let them worry about chairs and stuff in the morning.

All in all, things went better than expected.

Soooo muchhhh homewwwoorrrrkkk. My teachers are so vicious and evil for assigning this much work for the last two weeks of school. I have a big fat compsci program due... thankfully my older brother is a 2 years declared compsci major :D

    Typical....

Oh the camera is sweet, but I think I will spend the next decade spending all my camera $ on parts for my wife's slr that I bought her for Birthday, anniversary, etc... this year.

Argh... I hate this POS Dell Vostro...

After the 6th trip back to the IT people this school year (this time to have the hard drive wiped and imaged (not their fault, I know people like Jim and Micah deserve much more credit and accolades then they ever get)), the classroom laptop is working again. However, now I have to reinstall everything again. Shouldn't be a problem, but now I am getting all sorts of incompatibility errors. I think I spend more time each day fighting this laptop then I actually do preparing lessons.

To be fair, at the moment, this morning's frustrations are Smart tech's fault. The newest versions of notebook software and smart responder have been installed. Unfortunately, they are not compatible with each other. I am still blaming this POS Dell Vosto. If its hard drive didn't keep scrambling itself, I wouldn't have to reinstall all this software and wouldn't have run into this issue.

Gosh darn it! Power is out again!

They should give a discount if this happens more than once a month. (It's the third time this month, btw.)

Mine used to do that all the time until I called the state utility commission and reported my power company every time it happened. Hasn't happened in a long time now...

    Doesn't usually happen.

The first time this month it was because a raccoon messed up a substation. That was hours and hours before the power came back on.
That was a pain because not only was it forever for the power to come back on, but also one of my printers decided to move to Kansas when it came back online. Something, something, blah, blah, blah, technobabble, and I couldn't print labels. Very frustrating.

The second time was maybe an hour or so due to a thunderstorm last night.

This time? I haven't a clue. It isn't raining or anything. Maybe they're doing repairs or something.

Everytime a squirrel farted, mine would go out. :rofl

Actually, they just didn't keep up their tree maintenance in my area like they are supposed to. After a few calls to the state commission, they had crews out here trimming and cutting limbs away from the lines all over this end of the city.

I remember asking for a discount when it used to happen and they said no discount because I'm not being charged anything while it's out. Durrrrrrrrr

Since I've natural gas, I've been thinking about investing the $5,000 on one of those outside generator units that sit outside, look like a home air conditioner unit, runs off the natural gas line and kick on automatically when the power goes out. I'm too fat to be without my A/C for any extended length of time. :happy097

I feel your pain. Hope your power comes back soon. :)

Yes, but it's an imposition. I have to reset all my clocks, at least. ;)

I'll send them a bill for my time. :rofl

Glad you managed to get yours all straightened out. And yeah, I'm hoping the power will be back on before the temperature gets too high today. I'm little, but I still like to be comfortable.

Whoa, you mean they don't have an image of your specific machine type with all the basic software and configurations ready to go, so that all they do is reimage, rename, and rejoin the domain and you're ready to go???
    :D

I'm planning on finally getting myself to fully implement a FOG server, so that I don't even have to go to the machine anymore if I need to reimage it, just click it on the list and say go....and then I go troubleshoot the problems it causes, probably :D

I am sure that they do. However, I use a lot of equipment specific software that is not part of the basic package that 90% of teachers use. Unfortunately, some of the pre-image software is not compatible with the versions I need to run to run some of the probeware, remotes, etc...

eh what do you expect, I have Windows 2000/98 hardware and they hand me a Win 7 laptop.

  19. sol92258

sol92258 I have no earthly idea

yeah, I figured so. I don't keep an image for every specific machine, similar model types, and if there's a lab full of a particular model type, and some more of that same type in other areas, I'll keep two images.

There are a few machines I do have an image just for them, fully configured for their specific use, and by now I'd have that of yours after this many issues.
