Beautiful example of a great shaving razor, Dave! I really enjoy shaving with all my News, but the New Improved was my first New acquisition and tuned me in to the benefits of that great head design!

Thanks Jeff, Yep, I've had a few over the years and should never have sold the one elevator cased one I had. A 2nd elevator cased one was gifted to my Father-in-law and still resides there but he won't shave with it........Hope you find your way home soon. Such is the roll of the dice when traveling at winter. Next week looks sketchy here.......

You're brave to use that thing.
    :p

The Sensor is a light shaver, with a sweet cut.
But for dome shaving I think SEs are best option.

Thanks, Dave! I have a great weather app called Dark Sky and according to it, tomorrow is go day regardless of the bride’s reservations, or we’ll end up being stranded here until Wednesday. I have to get home to decent internet! DSL just doesn’t do it for me. That’s the best they have here! :(

I didn't want to weigh in but felt an early tomorrow departure is your best shot to get out as well at least as far as local weather is concerned. Not sure what you would arrive to in PA. I say go for it. I'm all for respecting my wife's feelings but sometimes you have to do what you feel/know is in their best interests regardless. JMO Safe travels !!

Days are numbered??? Ha ! Looks like another 3 weeks worth there :D. The ring of death is so so deceiving. Good idea on binning the blade before you shed blood . They are cheap. I love that brush handle :happy088:. Now go put on your stretchy pants and get ready for some turkey. Always such a pleasure having the in laws over isn't it ;). Have a wonderful day Dave .

    Awesome shave this morning.

The Razorock 400 whipped the Imperial into shape. Thick and slick.....oh yeah.

The Gamechanger SB 0.84 on the Weber bulldog was smooth sailing this morning. Three slick passes with the Astra SP. Alum was barely noticeable.

A little Witch Hazel and a nice splash of Pinaud Clubman Aftershave splash and I'm ready for a short road trip this morning. My son has found a used 54 inch Snap On tool box at a real good price about 60 miles from the house. We are out the door to go check it out.

Take care guys and I'll try and get caught up today.

If I were wearing this suit today , this is the combination I would have shaved with first.
Left the shave until today to get that little extra growth for the trial run of the R101. Also she informed me yesterday that it was grocery day so the shave got scrapped . ;)
For curiosity's sake I went with the Muhle blade that came with the razor . Not too bad at all. The Stirling Iniquity ( Gucci Guilty dupe) lathered fabulously with the Muhle synthetic brush. 2 passes were sufficient with a little extra getting that swirl growth pattern knocked down around Adam's apple . Will fine tune as I go with this new baby chaser . A splash of Gucci guilty and I smell richer than I'm worth.
As I mentioned in my last report with the Piccolo, the Muhle also rinses clean and I'm loving that. Beautiful craftsmanship in this razor also and its sharp and sharp looking.
If I were stranded somewhere with only 1 razor I would be quite happy with either a Fatip or the Muhle . Both are top knotch in my book. Enjoy your day gents :)

I'll attest to the Imperial being thick and slick Danny. Bring lots of cash for that Snap On box . They ask ridiculous prices for used ones around here . Found the last 10 years the quality not as good but the boxes got "blingier". If that's a word @wristwatchb . Have a great day with your son:)

Thanks Dave .I see the bowtie has made a comeback. It was made famous by Les Nessman in the 70s.;) What goes around comes back around. I wished people still dressed up when they went out . Shame that era has passed .

SOTD SATURDAY MORNING, FEBRUARY 13, 2021

Day seven of the Tennessee sojourn was supposed to mark our departure for Pennsyltucky, but ice storms and a winter storm warning throughout VA coupled with a frightened bride put that on hold. The travel window between ice storms appears to be tomorrow. So despite my sweet bride's protestations, we leave at 6:00 AM tomorrow. My Dachshund Gromit has been having a great old time here. He's made friends with the dog next door who's apparently been showing Gromit the ins and outs of Tennessee Squirrel and Chipmunk culture. The two of them have tree'd a number of the local resident squirrels. The only canine issue we've had was a strange very large dog who initially couldn't understand why an 11 lb sausage shaped little bundle of ferocity was barking at him until he finally understood that it was an invitation to a chase game that continued for about an hour until all three had their tongues lolling out of their mouths. So after the requisite butt sniffing farewells they all returned to their respective homes. This has continued every day, and I worry has spoiled Gromit. We have only one other dog back home in our neighborhood, and he's a geriatric 12 yr old who wants nothing to do with my five year old little bundle of energy. Oh well, back to the shave!

Today's shave was quite good and featured my Feather DX AC barber's razor which I thought I'd left home, but discovered in my bride's suitcase. She'd grabbed it at the last minute, and failed to inform me. Thank goodness my 17 yr old grandson had changed the blade, as I had none with me. He is part of our Covid bubble, and had been visiting over the last weekend. He'd loaded with one of the Feather Softguard blades I'd brought for him. I worried initially that the shave wouldn't be close because of the built in blade guard, but it turned out to be excellent, and unbelievably close. For those of you out there who've been looking down your noses at the Feather Softguard blades, I can attest that they are just as sharp as regular Feather AC blades. I really like this shaving tool. I used to have the Feather SS AC folding and kamisori razors but have sold both. I bought a Kai Captain kamisori clone, and enjoyed that shave. Tim, my grandson, now has the Kamisori clone. So I think I'll be acquiring the Feather DX Kamisori for my own use. I may try a dome shave with it. Having Parkinson's makes me prone when I raise my hands above my head to increased micro tremors and inadvertent slices. I think this Softguard blade may be the solution. The dome shave this morning was superb, but how could it not be with the excellent Supply V2. What a great design. It never fails to deliver the goods. I feel clean, cool, refreshed and dolphin smooth!

RAZOR: Feather DX AC Barber's Razor (Mug), SS Supply V2 (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather Softguard AC
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
    BRUSH: JR Boar #372
    CROAP: A&E Kaizen
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphrey's Lilac WH. Finished with Cremo Post Shave Cooling Balm.

Oh, yeah! Pork tenderloin! Another that has really impressed me is chicken thighs. We vacuum seal them with fresh sage, rosemary, thyme, sliced lemon and of course salt and pepper. Delicious!

My plan with the smoker is to Sous Vide first then ice bath before putting on the smoker to add color, flavor and reheat. I'm excited to try it. Right now it's -2 with a windchill of -13. Way too cold!

Great shave, Danny! Hope the toolbox acquisition works out! In any case it’s always fun spending time with sons! My oldest, Ben, lives just 8 miles away. With our shared shaving hobby, and Ben’s bladesmithing interest, it’s always fun spending time together.
