Happy Monday Everyone. I am joking. Why are weekends so short? The AOS Lavender shave cream is rapidly sinking. Back with the Nodachi for today. Overall a very good shave finishing with a near BBS. I am sure given enough time I could fully master the razor. However, I don't think it will ever be a razor I enjoy using. Life is too short and I have too many razors I love using to fool around with the Nodachi further. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

Thank you Dave. I love using the Masamune but not the Nodachi. I needs to go where it will be appreciated.

The Masamune is very similar to a Feather DE. It has a narrow sweet spot but is very efficient if you can maintain the angle.

SOTD MONDAY MORNING, FEBRUARY 15, 2021

It’s very nice to be home! 13 hours of backseat driving all the way from TN to PA is enough to unsettle any man! There were a large number of icy road conditions signs from the ice storms of the day before throughout VA which didn’t help matters, but we finally arrived home. The first thing I did upon awakening was to grab my Manhattan Cutlery razor, my A&E software, my Muhle 2011 R41 safety razor, and my Alpha Shaving 400 Tribute brush fitted with a hybrid knot ferrule. The mug and dome shaves easily put the baby to bed, and left me refreshed, clean and velveteen smooth! The post shave skin feel from the A&E Shaving Butter and Post-Shave Serum was the icing on the cake.

RAZOR: Manhattan Cutlery French Point (Mug), 2011 Muhle R41 Weber Handle (Dome)
    BLADE: Wilkinson Sword DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Alpha Shaving 400 Tribute with Hybrid Knot Ferrule
    CREAM: A&E Shaving Butter
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with A&E Post-Shave Serum.

Cold and wet in Alabama this morning. Temperature is right around 33 degrees this morning and we are suppose to see 14 degrees around 6 in the morning. :Animatedfrozensmily:

The Simpson T3 Trafalgar whipped up some gorgeous Imperial this morning. I used the B solid bar this morning due to having a late shave yesterday. I probably could have got by without a shave but why would I want to. Plenty of soap and razors to play with.

I don't think I have ever used the B plate but is a tamed little kitten. Three smooth passes for an awesome shave. A nice splash of Witch Hazel followed by a few squirts of the O2 Extreme. I picked it up at Big Lots...it is a dupe of something but I don't know what....it smells good. :) It may be cheap but the label is straight. :happy102:

Stay warm and take care gentlemen.

Great shave and glad you're home Jeff! I went out to check my driveway to see about heading south to work as it's warmer there. Walking on my gravel driveway was treacherous ( let alone the concrete) as the gravels are all frozen together like a bumpy ice skating rink and still spitting rain/sleet. I'm home for the day......

Czech & Speake No. 88~~Simpson "The Hive"~~Dovo~~YSL Kouros
Went with another Dovo today. This one I just "refreshed", however,

when I laid the blade on the stone, I noticed a slight frown. :(
So, I mustered up the sum-total of my inexperienced honing skills and...
I was successful removing it. :)
More on the edge in a minute, but first let's look at the wonderful Valobra lather.

The scent of No. 88 is in the rose DNA, but different from what you might expect
from Klar or Dusy Kabinett. There's a slight hint of Nag Champa...and I mean a REALLY slight hint.
The Dovo shaved well, but while I managed to remove the frown, I didn't really improve upon the edge.
Sure it cut. Not too harsh, but not to the level I want for an edge.

They say practice makes perfect, so it shouldn't come as any surprise that my edges aren't perfect.

Good shave, Clint, but I’m totally on board with your feelings about the Nodachi! I made the same decision about my Tradere and H&SCo.75. They were both good razors, but much too mild for my tastes! I don’t regret selling either of them.
