A nice shave this morning. The New Deluxe (with its shiny, Evan produced Gold Jacket) is an efficient razor, which needs some focus to feel smooth. To me, it isn't the mindless shave that its 30s compatriot the New LC is. Still a very good tool and the Art Deco styling is so very cool, imho.
A great lather this morning- Jeeves is an fave of mine for quality, no doubt, and this scent is pleasant and unique. I just don't seem to reach for it very often, hence the decision to put it in the focussed rotation this month.
3 passes later I am quite smooth- maybe the lower right neck might not pass Bill's cotton ball test, but I didn't buff or chase it, either.

    Have a great day all!

SOTD FRIDAY MORNING, FEBRUARY 19, 2021

I’m definitely looking forward to nicer weather. Woke up to sleet this morning. So I decided to break out the Stirling Obsidian Glacial Soap and AS. Last night I touched up my A. Witte Copperhead 6/8 on my jasper stone with a series of successively diluted slurries and finished in water. It had begun to tug during my last shave with it. This morning’s mug shave following the touch up was glorious. Three lather sweeping passes easily put the baby to bed! Whenever I use this soap it reminds me of my grandmother’s anisette cookies. The noggin shave with my Karve E_OC finished the morning shave ablutions with two smooth ATG passes leaving me clean, cool, velveteen smooth, and quite refreshed. The Stirling Obsidian Glacial AS Splash set the tone for the day! I wish all my shave brothers and sisters a good day despite the stinky weather! Spring is just around the corner!

RAZOR: A. Witte Copperhead 6/8 (Mug), Karve E_OC Plate (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE Knurled Aluminum Handle Hybrid Knot #007
    SOAP: Stirling Obsidian Glacial
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Stirling Obsidian Glacial AS Splash.

    Great Fat Friday Focus shave
Great shave, that soap sounds like a cool one and I totally agree on your assessment of the 2 razors. Both great but prefer the shave of the LC. Have a great day !
    Great shave Jeff !!

Thank you Charlie. The CT Scan went well and it was just a short drive from home. Just as I got home, the Doctor called. The name on the caller id filled me with dread. I was relieved to hear that the scan did not show a tumor or aneurysm. I have an appointment next Wednesday with the Neurologist. Maybe that will move down the path towards some relief. For this weekend I am just going to enjoy today's win.

Great video, Bill! Don’t know how I feel about this convex honing thing! Glen, as I’m sure you know claims it produces frowns in blades! I’m not sure I buy Jared’s concavity argument, but the distinction between keenness and sharpness doesn’t quite make sense to me from a physics point of view. When all this craziness resolves, and we’re both vaccinated, I’ll take a trip out your way or you can bring a finishing Hone out my way and demo the method. I’m not closed-minded, just skeptical. Looking forward to shaving with the Smith Bros.

    LaToja Shave Stick
Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Switchback 400 w/Omega EVO
    Toyo 777 5/8
Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Star Jelly ASB
    Brut Black - Spray Cologne

Hadn't used the LaToja yet.....and here's the perfect reason I'm on a NB '21: It was purchased from Italian Barber on 11/29/19, and had just been put off in the cabinet waiting, too many other soap options/purchases along that time that are chosen before this little guy. Originally @clint64 inspired.

Hot water towel on the face to start (my usual), then a thorough scrubbing of the LaToja shave stick over 24 hours of growth. Aroma is pleasant, reminds me of baby shampoo/powder. Very warm and damp soak for the EVO knot, and off to the races building a nice slick face lather. First outing....not as thick and rich as I'm used to with other shave soaps/creams done via a bowl lather, but still very good volume and loft, slightly wetter like I want for a straight razor shave. First pass with the Toyo 777, WTG all over, LaToja provides plenty of residual slick with a nice face feel. Second lather....I scrubbed the face again with the shave stick, added some water to the brush, some more vigorous pressure and swirling....Voilá, lather volume and consistency I'm used to! Same results for the 3rd lather, super slick and smooth shaving results, no crimson issues at all. Palmful of PAA's Star Jelly after shave balm confirmed no irritation and nary a missed shaved spot. Finished with a vintage cologne, Brut Black.

Fragrantica Description: Brut Black by Brut Parfums Prestige is an aromatic fougere fragrance for men. Top notes are Anise, Citruses, Lavender and Basil; middle notes are Floral Notes and Spicy Notes; base note is Woody Notes. My nose definitely gets the woody/spicy/citrus....don't know that I've any after shaves or colognes with Anise (described as a licorice fragrance), but blended with the other notes listed, Anise lends a slightly aquatic feel to this Faberge blend like a couple of Nautica's colognes.

Hope everyone has an awesome Friday!

My son plowed, but there’s still black ice out there! I almost fell on my keister putting the garbage out at the foot of our driveway. I’m not planning on going out today!

    Razor: Timeless Bronze SB
    Blade: Gillette 7o'clock Black (1)
    Brush: Riva Italian Heather Briar
    Pre-shave: PAA Cube
    Soap: B&M Leviathan
    PAA Galactic Witch Hazel
    B&M Unscented Balm
    AS: B&M Leviathan

    Good morning!

Excellent shave from the Bronze SB! Three passes for near BBS. Nearly silent alum.

Completely forgetting that it's Foúgere Friday I reached for Leviathan. This is one that gets reached for more often than it gets used. Polarizing scent that I have to be in the mood for. It'll come off the shelf for a sniff and more often than not get put back. Not something I would recommend or repurchase but every so often it hits the spot as I have nothing else like it.

    Have a great day!

I guess I've never really done anything else. I get up before anyone else and use a hot shower to wake up before the shave. The coffee is programmed to be ready for just after 6 when I get out of the shower, so I have a fresh cup with the shave. It really is my most peaceful time of the day.
