Thank you Joe. The HDW in the name represent an acronym for “Hardware Store”. Therefore, back in the day, Martens Hardware Store had these razors made. All I know about this razor is that it falls under the category as a magnetic razor. I picked it up on the Bay for $20. I have had nothing but excellent shaves with it.

Excellent! I can relate. I enjoy my shave time as I am left alone for about 20 minutes to be in my own little world. I especially enjoy using the straight razor at this time. The peace and quiet allow for total concentration to get a stellar shave. Coffee accompaniment = perfection.

Wonderful shave Blair. I hope the frequency of the power outages has diminished. Hope you and the family are doing well.

Always love that Sheraton when you show it off, Gary. What a beaut. The C&E scent was so nice, too. I have one soap bar of it left and that will be that.

There is a thread in straights that has 2 videos I did on it. “Why I Convexed hones” was the title I think.

Mostly for me, I just found it easier to get success. As far as a frown, the user of the tool creates the defect not the tool. I don’t criticize flattened stones just because a hack can ruin an extreme smiley razor using them improperly.

The theory that a thinner concave bevel would cut hair easier seems to makes sense to me. Thinner knives at lesser bevel angles slice carrots more easily than thicker knives. But, I am not at all prepared to argue that as a benefit. One would have to learn to hone well on flat surfaces and learn to hone well on a crowned surface to be able to compare. I never learned to hone on flat stones to the point I felt no need for a pro. I doubt I’ll ever need to send another razor out now though.

The guy that teaches honing on glass, plexiglass, marble, etc. with abrasive films does well with it. I think it will be something that I am going try sometime. He sells Gold Dollar razors as shave ready for about $30. I should buy one just to try.

I’d look forward to a “hone in” it would be fun.

I assume it was done by hand, Patrick, but maybe Jim knows for sure.
Oh, I've done distressing with a Dremel, but I don't think I can get it to look like that Riva! The 6 pack is an excellent idea, regardless, and is on my supply list for any woodworking project...:happy036:

The 6 pack really helps some nights when things don't turn the way I want them too. Helps creative process too.Checked for the Robusto and like everything good on Fendrihan....out of stock. They aren't carrying much inventory lately . No T2 or T3 brushes either . Bah:cool:

I have hard plexiglas which might lift the clear and not scratch finish. I'll cut a small piece to try it. Fingers crossed :)

Thank you Danny, I appreciate the kind words. I thank God that he has given me the wisdom and the ability to do this at this stage of my life. My journey started in November 2015. I was 60 at the time and didn't start LA Fitness until Aug 2016. The change in 5 years has been nothing short of amazing. I try to encourage people, 50 and over, that it is never too late to start an exercise program. Of course, they need to see a doctor before doing so. Of course, I didn't follow my own advice. Lol! I am now blessed that I have a free membership at LA Fitness and other gyms due to my Silver Sneakers program. I really don't have any excuse to forgo any gym sessions.

I got my T2s directly from Simpsons. When you take the VAT out of the price, I think they were actually cheaper shipped (I did get two, though) than getting them in North America.
