I watched some carbon steel pan videos last night on YouTube. One of the manufacturers recommended frying potato peels in oil with a bunch of salt to season the pan. I hadn't heard of this method before.

Enjoy your day and have fun with your new pan.

My time off has been wonderful. One more working day and it'll be official.

Thank you Charlie. During the week, I oven sear or sauté on the stove top and then go the oven. Swati has been buying me relatively nice non stick pans that I seem to destroy in short order. Reportedly a well seasoned carbon steel pan nearly non stick without being so delicate.

I haven't heard of that. I have some seasoning wax which is basically a paste of canola and grapeseed oil. I put a thin coat on and then put upside down in a 450 degree oven for an hour. Take it out, let it cool and repeat. I am on the second round now.

Headshaving with a shavette qualifies as an extreme sport. Nicely done.

Just had a wonderful evening shave! TOBS face-lathered with Yaqi Tuxedo, 2 passes + touch-ups with Van Der Hagen - certainly not BBS, but close enough!

It's all relative. For February, I will take 51 degrees any day. It hit 52 degrees last Wed. out my way.

Very nice shave and setup Clint! I do not blame you for getting extra zzzz's. Can't wait to see what you are going to make on your new carbon steel pan.
