    STS # 459

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: ERN 1820 5/8”
Brush: Leo Frilot ECWS 2018 Ghost Trails
    Lather: Razorock X
    Aftershave: Razorock X
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Stirling Tea Tree Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

The 158.5 Project continues with another great shave. The ERN 1820 razor did a phenomenal job delivering a smooth and comfortable shave. The soap has at most 4 or 5 shaves left before it has the same fate as the Edmund Fitzgerald. See below :

Unfortunately, I will not be able to to shave with the razor for a while. A moment of unfocused or absent mindedness caused a mishap that had the razor falling off the counter Leading to the scars breaking in two. :angry019::angry019::angry019: Time for a trip to the Sandpoint Spa.
This afternoon, with the encouragement of Joe, @Trigger , I took two razors to the green Lapping film fora maintenance hone. The next two shaves will test how sharp the razor are.

Non shave: Sous Vide Garlic and Rosemary Lamb chops for dinner this evening.

Thanks Jeff! I agree that it takes longer to head shave with an open blade, but I do it to keep my skills up to speed. The difficulty lies in the contours on the top side of the head and the nape area. When I do my head shave video, I will only do 2 passes, instead of my usual three. I don't want to make a long video.

Things are thawing out....mid 40s and plenty of sunshine today. Even warmer tomorrow. Barely any snow or ice left, save for the areas that always in the shadows this time of year. Official report at DFW Airport is 5" of snow (areas north had more), and -1F as a new record low. Lots of people in recovery mode. Talked with several other DIYr neighbors that are tearing out walls, replacing pipes, water heaters, sheetrock and more. Outer walls (particularly pipe spaces) in houses and businesses not insulated like they are in more northern areas. 3 plumbers trucks in our little area. Most everyone I've talked with lost an entire refrigerator of food. Our only damage was the flexible water line to the refrigerator which ruptured (from age and being brittle) when I pulled the frig from it's space to plug it in to a generator back on Monday night. $60 to replace the lines and filter (which was obviously needed anyway). Wow....we were (are) lucky & blessed we had the generators before this weather event.

Today's shave, early this morning, just getting to post. Super nice CK6 formula bowl lather. 3 smooth passes with the Tanifuji, no issues, super smooth results. Followed with some face pampering using my favorite after shave balm, a lightly mentholated gel from PAA called Star Jelly. Finished with another PAA fragrance, this one called Astro Traveler. It's a very nice blend of pepper, saffron, with some woody & tobacco notes.

Hope everyone's remainder of the weekend is Great!

Great 1914 ER shave Barry. They do deserve more credit than they get.

Thank you Jeff. I really like the L'Occitane products as well. I do wish they made an alcohol based aftershave.

Thank you Bill! I haven't done a headshave with an open blade in awhile. It is my practice run before I do a video of a headshave with a shavette. However, I will use my Dovo shavette because I am more comfortable with it. I may use a new Personna Hairshaper blade instead of the Rockwell blade.

Very nice shaving session Matt! I believe that it is nice to have a BBS shave, but it isn't the all to end all. As long as you are fine with your shave, then that is all that matters.
