So um.... I get how to connect the head blade handle to the wilky blades. But how do you get the wilky blades out of their holder without breaking the fragile $15 head blade handle?

anyone ever tried bamboo fiber socks? or bamboo fiber anything for that matter?
I saw some bamboo cloth of some sort a while back in a store, can't remember what it was - might've been socks for all I can remember - and meant to ask then, but forgot til now.

I'm just having difficulty wrapping my mind around "bamboo" and "cloth soft enough to be comfortable to wear".

I mean, sure it's got to be possible, but...but.....but....

I have a bamboo fiber shirt that's great. Light, soft, and cool. I think we get an impression in the Western world that all bamboo is like bamboo furniture. But, really bamboo has many varieties and can be harvested at any stage of growth. Softer, young bamboo makes very nice fiber. Only downside I've heard is it isn't super durable, so I've been hesitant to try the socks, where I prefer cotton or wool.

yeah, we've got quite a bit of bamboo that grows wild around here, including a pretty good patch at one corner of my yard...have to mow it as much as I mow the grass, so I know it can be soft, but it's still a foreign concept to me to be that soft, but then again, there's steel wool, which is kinda soft, and made of steel, so I guess it's possible.

And, now that I've had time to let the thought ruminate in my head a bit, I think it was a shirt that I saw that was made of bamboo, probably at JC Penney.

Thanks for the input, certainly sounds interesting

The thing to remember with bamboo is that it's pretty much a fibrous plant. They can do some pretty impressive things with it. I would expect a bamboo shirt to be similar to rayon.

Wow, either A) you're quite on your A-Game today, or B) you're read the Wikipedia article on rayon recently....

Had to take a look, as I was curious exactly what rayon is, and there it was, a direct comparison (in a way) with bamboo.

Which I kinda lets me down, now, as I'm not a fan or rayon :(
Still, I'll probably try it at some point

Believe it or not, I hadn't checked wikipedia. I remember a few years ago when bamboo fibre fabric was just emerging on the market, I did some light research on it. For some reason, the similarities to rayon stuck in my head.

AH, so I forgot to pass this on. I was sitting in the waiting area while daughter was at a social group meeting for autism spectrum adolescents and I was reading my Kindle. Some random person interupts me to ask "Oh, is that a Kindle?" I respond "yes" and prepare myself for further questions about how I like the Kindle or what I am reading. Instead this lady berates me and launches into a tirade of how Kindles are not the same as a real book and using one in public is not setting an acceptable model for the young people in this building and I should be ashamed... . Before I had a chance to say anything, she had stormed off and left the building. Going back to the same place today. I wonder if I will get a second lashing.

    Wow.
There's something to be said about a real book vs. ebook, but sheesh.

There's also something to be said about kids spending too much time in digital mediums, be it video games, computers, what have you, but really, that's over the line. Maybe today you should carry a laptop, or Gameboy, or something :D

There is something to be said for a real book vs. an ebook, but the reverse is true, as well.

When I can lie on my side and read a 200+ page novel with ease, It's hard to justify a paper book. Not to mention, the fact that I can carry a complete collection of classic books (public domain) around and read them without spending a single dime for the texts... I'm glad it was you and not me. I'd have chased her down the hall and unloaded on her about economic responsibility and ecological responsibility, etc. [/internet toughguy]

Wow. I boy hope she doesn't have a cell phone... or a music player. Bad examples right there. :happy102

    Some people twist my buttocks.

That stuff frustrates me. yesterday I was biking to work in the bike lane... Some lady pulls out into the lane and STOPS... I almost hit her and I said "you almost hit me, I am in my lane next time check before hitting someone". She flipped because I was on the road... ruining everybody who is in a car. Its like Kmon. it is a bike lane for a reason.

The book I'm reading right now is 1300 pages long, let me tell you how much I wish I had an e-reader! Still can't get over the flickeriness, but I hear it is less noticeable as you go on. Quiet here and hot. Can't believe I grew up in this heat. Mom got her wound vac off today so she can get around a bit better. No more tube to catch on everything. I love being able to be here for her, but I also can't wait to be back to my usual grind.
