  1. Sorry about the cut Paul. Safety razors are designed to prevent major cuts. I wish that you could video your shaves so we can actually see what you are doing. I surmise that your disability affects your shaving technique and that is why you are having problems even with a disposable, let alone a safety razor. I am not saying your spastic, but that's my observation as to why you get too many cuts. At our age, we have shaved over 40 years and should have the experience to minimize cutting ourselves while shaving. Bad cuts from a safety razor is usually due to too much pressure on the razor or the lather is not slick enough (hydrated) for the razor to glide unhindered. I surmise that it is the former and not the latter.

  2. Jeff, I’m glad you got the Rex sorted. Take care and stay warm.

  3. Keep at it Paul. Was the cut due to a set down error. Just keep at it, take your time and the fantastic Red Tip shaves will present itself.

  5. I knew about the steel being imported from Sweden, but I was just trying to make a funny comment. The Tamaghane razor is excellent. I hope that you get one.

  6. Try using only 1 razor for awhile and see the difference. Switching back and forth will never curb your tendency to apply pressure to the Red tip as you need to with the cart. Hold the razor out near the end with the fingertips to lessen the chance of applying to much pressure and let it wipe the hair away. Hope that helps as I am following your struggle to conquer the DE and it seems like you need to eliminate the factors causing you to force the razor instead of letting it do the work. Time and patience my friend :)

  7. I am that guy Jeff. My wife wanted me to keep this one polished. If the razor stays, the polishing ends.

  10. What does that mean .."set down error"? I'll try it down Cactus Nation the next time I have a go with it(neck). I'm glad the second Astra is sharper than the first was.....almost as sharp as the Wilkie Sword(which maybe isn't for DE razors???...Prove me wrong).

  14. I've had some absolutely fantastic shaves this month, with kudus kick never failing to impress with its substantial but not overpowering menthol. The Gillette slim adjustable has definitely become my go to razor, it's extremely handy being able to adjust the "aggressiveness" in between passes. Rooi Afrikaner also didnt fail to impress, definitely the slickest soap i own. I also picked up kameelperds kick, which is basically the glacial version of kudu, and Sanga symphony which uses the same tallow base as the rooi Afrikaner, a huge thanks to my friend Monty for the birthday bundubeard voucher that went towards the two new soaps.

    Shave 1-10:
    Razor: Gillette slim adjustable
    Blade: Gillette Wilkinson Sword (1-10)
    Soap: Bundubeard kudus kick
    Brush: Yaqi Sagrada familia
    Aftershave Arko cool mint

    Shave 11-15:
    Razor: Gillette slim adjustable
    Blade: Gillette Wilkinson Sword (11-15)
    Soap: Bundubeard Rooi Afrikaaner
    Brush: Yaqi Sagrada familia
    Aftershave Arko cool mint[IMG][IMG][IMG]

  20. I find it let's the razor do the work and doesn't allow me to add pressure when holding it that way. Dry hands are required though.:)
