    Hello,
    I introduce myself.
I am Swiss. I like to shave with a straight razor. In French: coupe-choux. I have a "Le Grelot - Royal Canada - P.Hospital" white celluloid handle 5/8 and a "Thiers-Issard - Aigle" red stamina handle 6/8.
My classic razor is a Gillette Aristocrat De Luxe Gold which I also adore. My shavette is a Parker Stanless.
I was born in 1983. I am very athletic (ultra-marathon and ultra-trail). I am vegan however my badger is made of badger hair. I bought it before my transition. My sharpening strop is made of leather. I made myself a synthetic craft felt strop. It works.

Running races of more than 50 kilometers (31 miles) with vertical drop of 2000m and more. Ultra-trail with little difference in height means distances of more than 100 kilometers (62 miles).
It's not very well defined. As soon as you run more than 42km, it's ultra-running.
An ultra-trail are distances longer than for an ultra-running.

Welcome aboard. On the vegan stuff for shaving they do have synthetic brushes, usually the brush hairs are softer than badger but tend to make very watery lather. You also have horse hair as another option usually they are made of hair from the tail and the mane after grooming. They tend to be somewhere between badger and boar brushes for the softness. You can also try using balsa wood with sharpening paste instead of a leather or even cloth strop. If you ask in the straight razor section you'll get some good advice on what and how to use them.

Another strop option is to use newspaper with or without paste.

Thanks, that's nice. My badger and my leather will last a few more years. When they are no longer usable I will buy the things you advise me.

If you take care of the brush it will last you a lifetime. As long as it works for you is all that matters.

Thx yes. I know. My barber has already restored my two razors. Now I keep them out of the bathroom and protect the blades with WD-40.

I live in Valais (Wallis). It is in the south of Switzerland. The same canton as the Matterhorn (Toblerone packaging mountain).
