Happy Friday Everyone. This week has gone by quickly. I could have used the Fat again today but I decided I wanted variety instead. I went with ABB shave soap from Portugal. The soap is triple milled and very dense. I find the soap very easy to lather with a light clean woody citrus scent. The Omega Evo was a pleasure face lathering the ABB. I switched out the iKon baseplate to the B1 OC. This is my favorite of the two baseplates. Three passes and touch ups caught the baby with ease. A splash of ABB Chiado left me smelling great. A positive comment from the wife sealed the deal. I hope everyone has a great Friday.

Is it in the similar scent range as Floid Blue?

I was able to get samples of both back in 2014. To my untrained nose they are very very similar Andrew. I am not sure I could tell the difference in a blind scent test. I bought the Floid Blue because the price was better per ounce.

Just thought I'd add a few of my own. Tell her great job :)

    Awesome shave Joe :)

Last time I grated a puck of soap was at 2am. That way I didn't have to ask for use of the grater which the answer would have been NO! Great report Dave :)

Have a great day at school Joe :) Another awesome shave !

Well, she didn’t quite get a chance to squeeze any Canadian shave info into the booklet...

Thanks Patrick, timing and negotiations are everything. She was on her way out to do the bi-weekly grocery shopping for her parents and us. I simply asked her to buy a new one for herself, done deal :)

Big Red wanted to come out and play in the Fat today.

The Razorock F400 (34mm knot) whipped up and enormous amount of thick and glorious Fat this morning. It is hard to beat the Fat. The F400 can cover some real-estate and fast.

The Razorock Hawk V3 open comb completed three smooth drama free passes this morning. I am really enjoying this razor for the last three shave. The Hawks are a great value in the AC world.

Finished with a little witch hazel followed by a good splash of Pinaud Clubman Aftershave Lotion.

It's is Friday and I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Clint's @clint64 Tatara Nodachi was suppose to be in yesterday and I don't think it is going to make it in today.....apparently it is under a seat in a mail truck getting drove around somewhere. :(

Congrats on the new brush, Dave!
I grated my Mitchell's when I first got it. I don't use it often enough. Shrunk back up and rattles around in the crock again.

SOTD FRIDAY MORNING, FEBRUARY 27, 2021

Never one to give up on a particular shaving combo, I decided on a return engagement with the Rex Ambassador loaded with a Kai DE. Kai blades are a smidge wider than my regular Feathers. My last encounter a few days ago left me with an irritated rear dome. The problem was clearly operator error. My usual routine is to start with my mug and then do my noggin. Today I started with the dome. The Ambassador is a fabulous shaver, but today’s shave involved more than my standard level of focus. The dome shave ended this time with your happy narrator at 1, Rex Ambassador 0 after two successful ATG passes.

The mug shave featured my C-Mon Special 11/16 which still retains most of the original gold wash on the tang and shoulder. This particular razor is an extra hollow ground, and boy does it belt out the “Buttering Toast” song during the shave. The razor belonged to my childhood barber, Joe Roselli, bless his soul! I had renewed contact with one of my childhood playmates, Joe’s grandson, Vince, another retired engineer, who as it turned out had settled in nearby Delaware. Vince and I were reminiscing about a year or so ago before this plague nonsense took over our lives at his place over some Manhattans about our first haircuts when his grandfather came up.

We’re both old, bald septuagenarians now. I discussed my shaving hobby with him, and he brought out his grandfather’s razors. My eye was drawn to this C-Mon Special, and a Dubl Duck Goldedge. Needless to say, a deal was made, and I left the proud owner of two great straight razors and a Frank Swaty Barber’s hone. While I haven’t used the Barber’s hone, both razors are a regular part of my shave rotation. Tomorrow I plan to shave with the Goldedge. This morning’s shave was an A#1 great shave, or ‘epic’ as @Keithmax, one of the TSD 30DC Crew, is wont to say. I feel clean, refreshed, and velveteen smooth.

RAZOR: C-Mon Special 11/16 (Mug), Rex Ambassador (Dome)
    BLADE: Kai DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger Fan Knot
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Old Spice Fresh Lime (Indian Version).
