Maybe I put too much pressure on you asking for this type of shave video. Just remember that I don't want you to get cut making a video for me . I have a difficult time doing a vid facing the camera but I will have to practice before MAYhem rolls around as that's the only time I make vids :)

Saponificio Varesino SS & AS - Felce Aromatica
    @jtspartan BRM w/TGN 28mm Silvertip
    Ralf Aust

Long day....mid morning shave, just getting to TSD.

Went for another face lathering.....thoroughly soaked the TGN knot, no slinging out the moisture. Jason's BRM with the silvertip dripping wet, straight to the SV aluminum tub for loading, about 25 seconds at least. Immediate lather bursts, very thick. Dipped the tips in some running water, more like it, lather slinging face swirling fun. Hadn't used the Aust for awhile, so it had a thorough CrOx linen session, followed by leather. Smooth shaving, very stiff Solingen blade, despite the near full hollow grind. 3 passes, WTG, XTG, then opposite XTG. Did get a neck weeper, too much pressure on the tip. Oops. A little liquid styptic, no big issue. Nice smooth results all over, if I'm rating it, a BBS- as I left some on the table in the weeper area. Couple overloaded palmfuls of the matching SV after shave balm for some skin conditioning. Felce Aromatica is a super fougère fragrance, unfortunately fades way too fast.

Hope everyone had an incredible Friday!

Rare evening shave cause I didn’t have time this morning.

Took delivery on a new Thiers Issard straight and had to mix it in.

Stirling Executive Man - The scent is supposed to be a take on Creed Aventus, which I enjoy in the soap but the aftershave can be strong for my taste.

Stirling High Mountain badger Just a lot of brush, it will eat 3 helpings of soap and still ask for dessert.

The Jagger Muhle DE R41 2011 version with a new Personna Blue on board. The legendary aggressive head and base plate fashioned in the purest unobtainium are graciously on loan from Joseph.

Went with my normal 3.5 pass at 50% alternation of tools. Wound up with a closer shave than I usually target. I definitely don’t want to do this every day. Just a little irritation to deal with.

I’ve heard folks like milder blades on more aggressive shavers. I’ll go with a new Feather next time, cause I think sharper would be less irritating.

The TI is the same steel, forging, hardening and grind as my recently acquired Wolf & Ram version but with less bling. It was offered at 35% of what Amazoners pay so I jumped. Having recently enjoyed the scorn of the Supreme Honemasters Cabal for posting videos of my use of crowned surface hones, I became freshly aware of the whining about less than perfect Dovo razors. Well this TI has it all, the bend and frown were very easy to pick up as soon as I opened it. Funny thing is, that I totally expect this from a 137 year old manufacturer of handmade cutlery and that the only razors I own that have perfect geometry are actually Dovos, and at 80% of volume. I considered it as shave ready from its maker but not quite as good as the vendor who I would usually get to rehone it. These have a reputation for being difficult to hone, but now, I fear not. I’ll use it some more and refine it some on pasted strops before I take it to the rocks.

A delightful shaving experience although I did pull out some of the aftershave treatments I seldom have use for anymore.

Thanks Patrick. No worries! My problem is timing as well. My brother is retired and he is always home. I have to speak very loud so that the mike picks up my voice and I can't do it while hr is at home. If I don't get everything right as far as setting up, then I will try it asap. I said that I would do it this Sunday, but I can't make any promises. I am a man of my word and I will have the headshave video completed.

Nice shave and congrats on the new TI Bill!
I agree that the R41 is not a daily driver. As far as the honing purists they scoff at lapping films as well. There are many paths to sharpen a straight. All that matters is that you are happy with your honing method and that your results are great for you.

I love to see Slash teaching. Honing on abrasive films is the only true method of actually ensuring flat. The first stoke of a razor on a freshly flattened stone begins the dishing out process.

Agreed it is a wise move. However, my point would be that it is just soap. You clean the box grater with dish soap following using it to grate cheese or whatever other food product you desire. Then again, we are talking about the SWBO’s of the world, so who am I kidding.

Wait, I am the chef of the house, therefore, it is my kitchen tools anyway.
