Decided picking up an orange ceramic soil container was a good idea... it was orange because of the heat.

I get to go back and burn me some more dirt today. But we are testing for nitrogen and using some fun math formulas to get carbon levels as well as organic carbon. Will be an interesting day as long as no more people pick up very hot ceramic.

There is something surreal about watching the last shuttle launch prep on a cell phone. Just making sure the Nasa App is working properly. We may be at the vets during the launch.

Ah seeing the launches is always spectacular... Unless something goes wrong. I just hope everything works out. Most of the time everything is ok. But can be very bad if something does happen to go wrong.

    school's been out? :D

for all of us 12 monthers, the only way to tell is when the noise of students (and teachers) is minimized :D

My wife's a teacher, and this is her first week off this summer, did the summer school thing to bring in some extra money...and instead of paying some things off and giving some breathing room, we had to spend most of it on things that break (and the pool...).

I complain about it, but I shouldn't...it's a blessing the things that broke, did break while we had the "surplus" money - if they happened with out it...uggh.

Pool has been nice, was a pain to get setup, but the end result has been nice. Got a couple of poles digging pretty deep into the dirt, gonna need to get a jack and lift some up and put a piece of plywood or something underneath, but it's fine for now, and probably will be all summer even if I never fix the issue.

Gotta a wedding for an old college roommate tomorrow, rehearsal tonight, not sure I'll have internet besides my phone, so I don't know how much I'll check in over the next 48 hours, so it may still be fairly quiet around here :D

Well the shuttle is up and away.

1969 we went to the moon
1981 We had the space shuttle
    2012 we have nothing

yup... looks like we made good backwards progress

On google+ now.. If any of you want an invite, let me know. Just so you know, it took me almost a day to actually get in once I had an invitation. I haven't messed around any yet. I just got in.

Sure. Can you send me one. I don't know if I will use it... but I will at least fiddle around and see what it is about.

Finished up my lab work... for today now just working on databases and mail merging... how fun :D

Sorry everyone, I was out helping daughter stain some woodwork and painting a rocket. So I am all brown and blue.

Anyone who wants me to send an invite to google+, please PM me the e-mail address you want the invite to go to. I haven't had a chance to play with it much. So far, it looks like it is what others have claimed for it to be - a suped up FaceBook. I haven't had a chance to play to see how well it does or does not work.

So anyway, send me a PM with the e-mail and I will get the invite out. Regan, you should have received yours. If not, let me know. Jim, I am sure I have your e-mail someplace, but better send me it again so that it is the correct one.

Must say that's encouraging to know  SWMBO is all about wanting a baby right now; currently our only child has four legs and a nub for a tail. Oh well, I know it'll happen when ever the timings right and she can't wait for that day.

Sometimes I feel like I married the only woman in the world who doesn't want children. I thank God that I found her.

I'm not sure if you're implying (or not) that you're thanking God she doesn't want children. Not a criticism, you just really peaked my curiosity.

    Nice catch. :happy102
I thank God I found a woman who, like me, doesn't want children. Society kind of frowns on our attitude, but at least we're in it together.

just got back from the wedding...man, the ole college campus has changed a lot in the past 2 years.

So has my old roommate, but he's still the wild, silly, crazy guy I knew before...he's just heavier now....not that I have room to talk.
But I was already kinda big back then, this guy ate and ate and ate and ate, and yet still always had to run around in the shower to get wet.
Guess it's caught up with him.
But it was darn good to see him after all this time.

    And the maid of honor...........wow

Interesting as it doesn't follow the trend with the other things I know about you, but what fun would life be if we all followed trends and could be put in a box?

On an unrelated note, finally got all the computer parts together and I'm running Ubuntu right now. I actually downloaded both Mint and Ubuntu and Mint wouldn't load (but loaded and ran faster on both laptops I played around on for a few minutes). Easily installed all the multimedia drivers and was able to copy all the files off the old hard drive. It looks like I didn't loose anything, though it was too many files to try opening them all, I'm sure something is corrupted considering I was loosing sectors on the drive.

    Sounds quite probable.

I dusted off Sins of a Solar Empire today. Spent most the day on one battle map. Wow, I forgot how time vanishes while playing those type of games.

Yeah Justin, I don't have time for such games anymore. Strangely I don't really miss them much either.

Overall liking Ubuntu (or GNU/Linux/Ubuntu or whatever you want to call it). I'll need to spend a little more time finding my favorite software. I want a file browser that shows the trees on the left pane. I'm still not sure on Rhythm Box for podcasts - I like how it downloads, but way it shows my Fuse with everything in one big list is kind of a pain. On the plus side, everything runs FAST and multi-tasking as far as I've been able to try it hasn't caused any noticeable slowdown.

Yup... it is fast. However, it does take some tinkering to get all the programs set up the way you want. However, I get a bit of joy in that process, so its all good.

Why do I see myself putting mint on this box?
