Congrats on the A in math this year, Myles! In my Senior year, my math teacher took time out to help us understand financial math, and it has helped me throughout my life.

Hard work always wins over smarts, but not everyone is good at everything. Find things you're good at, and do those things to the best of your ability. Associate with friends and mentors that challenge you to grow. If the people around you aren't challenging you, find some new friends. Seriously.

I have two mentors that are 10 years older than me, and they help me in ways that I would have never imagined. At times, I have helped mentor others, and that is very rewarding.

I truly believe someone never fails until they stop trying. I wore my niece out with that phrase while she worked hard to become a nurse. She had people telling her she wasn't smart enough to do it. Guess what? She's been an R.N. for two years, and she teaches Clinicals at the local community college in the evenings. So much for not being smart enough. She worked hard then, and she kicks butt now. I never thought she wouldn't make it.

Forget about your limitations, and focus on your possibilities. Combine that with hard work, and nothing will get in your way. :)

I can't wait to see how much you'll learn about yourself as you transition from HS to the military. It's an exciting time, my friend.

Brad Sears Shave Works Disco - Super Badger Hybrid
    Seiko 6/8 Kamisori
    Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Star Jelly
Al Haramain - L' Aventure EdT (Creed Aventus dupe)

Another drive by post. Made an okay lather today.....shaveable, I'll leave it at that. Maybe 4-5 uses left with this Simpsons tub. 2.5 passes with the Seiko this morning, some better results on the jawline/neck area from working a lower blade angle, almost riding the spine for both sides of the blade. BBS- for the finish. The usual PAA Star Jelly, followed by another Creed Aventus dupe. Purchased back in Sept 2020 (and used that month too), just in case there's a question ;)).

I use the traditional grind (asymmetric) Seiko kamisori with both hands, like you would a western grind straight. This means I shave the right hand side of my face with the Ura side out, and the left hand side of my face with the Omote side out. The Ura side looks like a regular western grade (hollowed to some degree), the Omote more as the 'unhollowed' side (although it is the side that is honed at a higher ratio). An easy way to know the Ura side vs. the Omote side, the Ura side always has the writing/logos/info on it.

    Couple thoughts:

Bandwidth knocked to zero today, much like @Droo78. New development with my father, not an ER situation, but concerning. PCP appointment early tomorrow for him. After that...don't know.

The new CT. @Trigger :signs001: I'm a big Snoopy/Peanuts fan, will keep the Snoopy shaving avatar. :eatdrink047:

I see time for reading along in late evenings going forward, liking SOTD 30DC posts, commenting now and then. My 2/3 rule will continue for March, post updates as I can.

Thanks for all the nice words and comments on my posts.

Great shave and post Blair! You are welcome about the CT. I figured you liked Snoopy. However, if Snoopy gets tired and wants a break, then Speed Racer can always rush in to help out.;)

Thanks, Jason! I may invest in some of the other GC baseplates just for the sake of experimentation. Or science... :)

Thank you for the inspiring words, Jeff!

    Thank you, Clint! Great advice.

    Thanks, Joe! You too.

    Thanks, Gary!

Thank you, Danny! I'm glad I chose the T3 over the T2.

Thank you, Joseph! I'm deciding if I want to add any other Mike's soaps to the collection. Maybe Vetiver?

Blair, I hope all goes well with your Father. The late evening thread checks have been my usual modus operandi lately too because of my family circumstances. You'll be in my prayers.

    Shaving recipe for today.

Prep: Warm shower:/Asda Tingly Mint & Tea Tree Shower Gel.

    Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face.
Cien ~ PURE Fragrance Free Sensitive Bar Soap + Nuage Menthol shaving Oil.
    Brush: Fine ~ 24mm Synthetic.
    Face Lather.
    Soap : Proraso Sensitive.
Blade: Treet 7 Days Platinum. (D4)
    Razor: Parker 55SL Semi-Slant.

    Post:
Cold Water Face Rinse./Homemade (~Spring/Summer mix~) Lemon, Eucalyptus,Tea Tree, Essential Oils.+ 3 menthol crystals.Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel)./L'OREAL~ Soothing Birch Sap Post Shave Balm./Dana English Leather ASL.

    Greetings,

The Proraso Sensitive Soap provided me with a slick protective lather for the shave leaving a equally good post shave feel. Out of the 3 proraso soaps that i have, the sensitive has the best slickness...My only gripe with the soap is it leaves a white residue on the razor surface after i have finished the shave...However, this could be because i live in a hard water area and the soap reacts with the high minerals in the water which has nothing to do the ingredients of the soap.
Last use of the Treet 7 Day Platinum. blade which has performed superbly with each outing. These blades are smooth and very efficient, the longevity of them is astoundingly good. I could quite easily get another two shaves from this blade but will retire it on a good note.

Another enjoyable 3 pass + pick ups close comfortable shave with no errors to report...A great shave to finish my shaving week....Finishing the shave off with a generous splash of Dana English Leather ASL.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.;)

Keep safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

I hope you’re not trying to convince me that a slide rule and pocket protector are shaving accessories.

    Razor: Valet Autostrop
    Blade: Gem (?)
    Brush: Rubberset 400/Cashmere
Soap: Hub City Friday Night Lights
    AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
    AS 2: Avon Deep Woods
    Fragrance: Azzaro Visit

New to me soap scent and maker had been sitting awhile and wanted to try it. I picked up 2 scents, the other one I had a sample of and used so I picked this to use first. Here's what it says on the site about it:
This namesake is often referred to as the glowing lights that emanate across darkened skies on Friday nights during high school football season. However, this scent doesn't involve the gridiron. We're talking the lights after the lights. The countless bonfires where friends gather to celebrate victory and swap stories of fame, glory, and friendship. I give you Friday Night Lights! This scent includes notes of charred woods (cedar, birch, pine), sandalwood, heliotrope, amber, patchouli, leather, musk, and a touch of sweetness of vanilla, coconut, and marshmallow.

I loaded WAY too much as it loads easy. So after taking the pasty stuff to my face and adding water while working up the lather on my face I was given a shimmering finish to the lather and went to work with the razor (AMAZING shave with it) I did feel it was giving me everything I want in a lather except slickness. I felt some drag with the razor and was thinking the blade may be nearing it's end. 2nd pass after rinsing had a little more slickness due to the additional water added. By 3rd pass lathering I decided although it was a shiny lather, could it possibly take some more water? YES it did and I have to say that I had a glassy shine that I've never seen before with a soap and I've used between 200 and 300 different soaps. The slickness was very improved. Not the best I've ever had but where I like it and finished the shave really chasing a smoothness on the face to match. Just and incredible shave. The scent is strong enough to enjoy and while I am not able to discern the different notes individually, I will say as I read down the list, I can sense each one would be in the well blended scent that is a winner for me. I could use a touch more smokiness but it is enough to appreciate. Decided to add some gas to the fire with the Avon Pump of Deep Woods and topped off with some Visit from Azzaro which is a cheap fragrance that punches way above it's price point. May need to spray a bit more on but it's cheap enough that you can. Have a stellar day everyone !!
