Fine shaves and a great detailed review Bill! I am not a straight razor snob, but it seems to me Gold Dollar razors aren't worth the trouble, unless I buy it shave ready.

I had none on the topcap but I did have to clean the remnants off the baseplate.
    Thanks, Joe!
I have nothing special planned for tomorrow. All my shave gear is in play on any given day. I do need to remember to set an alarm for tomorrow morning. Been awhile since I've been awaken by that.

    Thanks Joe.

For me the value is in the process, the education and the experience. I figure if I can develop an edge that I like on an inexpensive irregular shaped Chinese razor, I am risking less when I hone an irregular shaped expensive razor from France or Germany.

I have about 4 of the earlier style GD razors inbound that I have some ideas I wish to explore in sharpening. I consider them educational burners. If it doesn’t work out, I toss them. If they do work out I’ll probably give them away. $$$’s for the 4 are about what I used to spend for 2 days worth of cigarettes.

Cigarettes?????.........hmmm.....every time I see my doctor he asks to make sure I haven’t resumed my smoking hobby again. One time, I told him I really felt bad for the gubbament, not being able to get their $1500 a year nicotine addiction satisfied by me any longer.

We laughed, then he said “if you really feel that bad, you could just take up gambling.

I still chuckle every time I envision him saying that.

Thank you Joe...the PAA soap shows a "hole" at the bottom...maybe I can expand on that with my uses this week.

Wonderful shave Bill. That for the report on the W59. About two years ago I had considered picking up one. Glad I did not and went towards the vintage direction.
