Maybe Gillette will pull their heads out of their....... and start appealing to the real 'men' of the shaving world. This could also be an attempt to salvage what is left of their reputation after the infamous man shaming commercials. Just my 2 cents worth ;)

Here's a little update to what I've been up to lately in case anyone was wondering.
I'm still shaving and reading posts but not posting etc . My 89 year old mother was not well for a bit and I had a few lathe jobs on the go that needed my attention. Been working some and the snow sure took alot of my time for a week cleaning up that mess also. This week I'm preparing my trucks for a sale and am in the process of emptying stuff out of them and organizing parts . Someone here is very happy to see them go instead of sitting in the yard all summer ;) .Also bought another plow truck for next winter but I don't think I'll bring it home until fall. I'm playing it smart.
As for shaving, I'm using the Red tip and the Rockwell 6c exclusively with random software. The blade order arrived and today I tried out the 7 oclock greens on my head. These aren't the Russians but the India made and they shave just as good in my opinion.
I haven't been in the BMS21 thread much and probably wont be since the mods merged it with the Haul and changed the name to BMS21.... aka The Haul. Apparently that's their right to do so without notice. That kinda kills the fun in making new threads for me as I had another good one planned but since scrapped the idea . So in the meantime I'll carry on carrying on and partake in here when I can. Take care gents :)

I did finally take a couple minutes this morning to snap a shave photo. :happy093:

It was a wonderful, peaceful shave early in the morning before any duty called for my services. After loading the Semogue 1520 (with cracked handle paint) for 60 seconds, I bowl lathered the RR Blue Label soap into a well hydrated, slick and creamy consistency. Razor of choice was the West Coast Shaving/Charcoal Goods "Brawny" baseplate on a WCS "79S" handle. It's a heavy setup (to me). Blade of choice today was a second use Gillette/Wilkinson Sword. So far, I have found that they last for two good shaves and then they're ready for the bin. I went with two smooth passes that provided a comfortable and efficient shave with no irritation or mishaps.

My lower neck hasn't given me any problems for quite a while now (no ingrown hairs). For the past couple of weeks, I've mainly been alternating between my new RR Game Changer .68 OC with Barber Pole Handle and this "Brawny" baseplate or the "Toothsome" baseplate with this WCS handle. I never bothered buying the Lithe baseplate (the first one offered in that series) because after trying the Brawny, I didn't want anything milder than that. The Brawny is designated as aggressive, but that is obviously subjective...

The Spanish Aqua Velva worked its magic today as usual and I have also occasionally been using the (new to me) Nivea Men, Maximum Hydration Post Shave Balm on the recent dry, low humidity days. It's good stuff for off an off the shelf drug store product and I think I like it better than the Nivea Men, Sensitive Cooling Post Shave Balm that I've had in my drawer for about three years.

Tomorrow I will be going with the Mühle R102 to switch it up a bit. It has always provided great shaves since it arrived to me from the Black Friday sale. Cella is on deck as well.

I do miss posting my daily shaves here, but I just haven't found a way to add any more hours to the day, yet... :)
Although my body is physically exhausted by the evening, my mind is still going. As such, I find reading the 30DC posts to be a good way to unwind. Thanks, fellas!

BTW, I stepped on the scale this morning and I am now down 21 pounds. It's amazing what stress, constant physical motion and basically only eating one meal a day will do for the weight level.

    Greetings,

The last few days i have been in contact with HR and our union rep due to at the start of the week Greensill our major provider of finance to Liberty Steel have appoint administrators putting 5,000 jobs across the UK at risk at Liberty Steel plants....If the inevitable happens, which i personally think it will, then i will find another job.

While i have been on furlough i have been looking into other forms of employment i won't just sit around and let the grass grow under my feet.

    Back to the shave....

Last outing of the Asco Super Stainless blade which has performed adequately with each shave.. However, today i thought the blade would have started to lose it's smoothness, but to my surprise it didn't.
Over the past few months i have been pushing my blades to the max, as before that regardless of the blade manufacturer or origin i used it for two shaves then it was binned...Each time i use Williams my love for it grows...I'll be honest and and say i bought it purely for it's classic vintage cover and like Arko I don’t mind the scent ( which some people don't ) to me both have a clean lemon soap scent it creates an acceptable slick smooth lather, which an dissipate from time to time if you don't get the mix right, but overall it does the job.

Another enjoyable 3 pass + pick ups close comfortable shave with no errors to report...A great shave to finish my shaving week...Finishing the shave off with a generous splash of Brut ~Attraction Totale ASL

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.;)

Keep safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

Nice writeup and read Andrew. You continue in my thoughts as a family situations/crisis I've gone thru have had me like you describe. Stress and dealing with things once ran me from 225 down to 185 and I looked like a skeleton with skin over it. I hope you get some relief soon and that you find time for yourself to keep sane and healthy. Hang in there. Dave who's still stressed and steady at 225 again(wishing it was 200-210 :D)

I was looking at snow blowers several years ago. My wife talked me out of it, saying we really didn't need one, we have to store it year around, blah, blah, blah. I bought a second snow shovel instead. She got the hint and has been helping me ever since.
    Wishing you the best, Barry.

Wonderful shave Barry. I do enjoy the WIlliams soap, although I have only the modern version. Perhaps in the future I may pick up a vintage puck as well.
Would the potential layoffs in your industry be a result of the pandemic, mismanagement or both? Good luck with whatever direction you choose.

Razor: Gratiot Krect Spiral Curve Sant
    Blade: Wizamet (4)
    Brush: Knothead Brushworks Dragonsbeard
    Soap: Ethos/Oleo Dragonsbeard
    AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Ethos V1 Skin Food
    Fragrance: Ethos Dragonsbeard EDP

Today I went with my favorite scent in the den and that is the Dragonsbeard from Ethos. I had the EDP sample sent to me and now I KNOW I will be getting that as well to complete the set although I may wait for more of the soap (made seasonally now) and order together. The Krect Spiral Curve is a cool piece of history that I enjoy using especially for the results it delivers when wielded properly. I'm ready to tackle the day which is a long day today but we'll crush it. Have a great day Folks !

Glad to read your post, Patrick. Please don't let one random decision, made by a Mod, spoil your participation here and definitely don't let that decision stymy your thread ideas. We like having you around.

.The potential layoffs to the mill is down to a equal amount of the pandemic, mismanagement and miss cynical, that may sound bitter and cynical from me, but the new management are just text book theory fools who we warned this would happen, last year , but just ignored our concerns. like lot of arrogant condescending people ,they listen, but don't hear, or should i say don't want to hear...With this happening it'll give them a touch of reality and break the false sense of security they created for themselves..Thank you Joe.. The I've only got the modern version of Williams too. Yours-Barry.
