I know this near exact scenario, got the phone call on April 2nd 2016 @6am for an emergency trip to my parents house. 8 driving hours later I walked into a tornado I never dreamed about. Lived this exact world with my father in the hospital (facing colon surgery), Mom in bed permanently, unrepairable spine issues that my father had glossed over. I was Mom's caretaker exactly as you are doing. All this time, my wife was dealing with working, and our 2 kiddos in 9th & 10th grade (now 11th and 12th grade). When my father was released and cleared for travel (me now 7 weeks being away from home), I moved them to Texas, me and a friend driving two vehicles, me with my mom on a mattress in the back of a Dodge Caravan. She stayed with us for 2 nights, then to a hospital to a nursing home. Passed April 2019. My father lived with us for a year and a half. Bad idea/decision that turned out to be in our case.

Fast forward to now....my father lives alone in an elderly living facility with their remaining dog (not a nursing home, but one baby step away). I'm still his caregiver in most every other aspect, doing his shopping, finances, managing 5-6 doctor's appointments on a 30-60 day rotating basis.

Yesterday, 6:40am my father called 911....I was there ~5 minutes after the ambulance hit the hospital. New A-Fib Tachycardia medicine Friday last week plus his C-19 vaccination on Monday, side effects -> 911 call. He's home now, but....I don't ever have my phone muted, if that makes sense.

There is light at the end of this tunnel. Take care of Andrew, so Andrew can be the father that's needed.

I agree with @Paul Turner. Watching someone else clear the driveway is the way to go.

Wow Andrew....your plate is full. You and your family is in my family's prayers. We went through some of the things your are going through with mom and dad but not near the extent you are. Hang in there and please keep us posted.....we are here.
