I have had a pretty good day today. I really should have worked on client stuff today but with all the stuff that has been going on with my health lately, I decided I needed a mental health day. After taking the SOTD photos for the week, I realized I was feeling pretty damned good. So throwing caution to the wind, I went downstairs to the shop and assembled the new work bench for the wood lathe. Mmmm, still feeling good. Risking a medical setback and more importantly the wrath of SWMBO, I decided to unpack the wood lathe. Sure enough just as I had the box over near the bench and opened up. Swati walked in and starting reading me the riot act about acting crazy after being sick for so long. After 31 years of marriage, I looked into her eyes and said she was right. ;) I think this surprised her so much she agreed to help me left the heavy sucker onto the bench. :D The lathe is setup. I need to go get some bolts to fasten it to the bench but I am happy with the progress today. I am happy Swati didn't put a boot up my .......... Most of all I am happy that I feel like myself again. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers guys. I know they helped.

Well I guess you can say it was a good day. Setting up the lathe May have been your form org relaxation but I am sure SWATI would think differently.

    Saturday's Shave

    RazoRock Game Changer .68OC
    Bic Chrome Platinum (1)
    Wild West Brushworks 'Odin'
Mike's Natural Soaps 'Pine & Cedarwood'
    T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Pitralon Classic Aftershave
    Pino Silvestre EdT

This shave brought me back to some childhood/adolescent memories of working with/for my biological dad in his shop. He was a master carpenter by trade and specialized in custom cabinetry and furniture. In my later teenage years, I worked on his crew, building custom homes. Those were the days... Anyway, this morning's shave scent was all wood...and it was wonderful.

I just bought this sample pack of the Bic Chrome Platinum blades and tried one today for the first time. Top notch blade all the way! (Also...no huge annoying glue dots). Smooth and plenty sharp. I'll most likely be adding a 100 pack soon based just on this one experience.

Excellent, relaxing early morning shave to start the day on the right foot! No irritation or mishaps to report and I smell like a mix between a carpentry shop and an Italian barber shop.

    Yaqi RASB2102 AC style razor
    Feather Professional blade (fresh)
    Yaqi Evil Zebra synthetic brush
    Figaro shave soap
    Irish Chestnut cologne

Late shave and first run with the new Yaqi razor.

Awesome Figaro lather courtesy of the Yaqi Evil Zebra.

I loaded a Feather Professional in the Yaqi and went to town. After a few passes I discovered that riding the cap seemed to be the way to go. I completed three nice passes and went for the alum. The alum was barely noticeable except in a few places.

Finished with some Witch Hazel and a few squirts of Irish Chestnut.

The razor is super light. With a blade it is at 1.2 ounces. The handle is aluminum. I thought I would have a problem with the thin handle but it works nice with the slim head. Overall a very nice shaver and a joy to drive. I would like to get it dialed in with a few more shaves and then step it up a notch with the Feather Pro Supers. If Yaqi can get the problem straightened out with the top cap they will definitely have a winner. Hopefully the problem is limited to my top cap only.

I'll try and get caught up. It has been a busy day and we are baby sitting the grandboy tonight. :)

    Take care everyone.

Clint, I'm so glad you are feeling better and had a fun day. I will follow along with great interest as you begin to use your lathe. Prayers continue, my friend.
