Very nice shave. I prefer to scoop out an almond size sample, press in a bowl and have at it. The only time a brush touches a bowl for me would be with the Cella, Williams, MWF, Pre de Provence 63 and my Santa Fe Soap Ranch Redwood Vetiver. Most of these are harder soaps.

    The Lavender is quite nice.

Wonderful shave and topped off by the St. Joseph Day classic: Spfinge de San Giuseppe. Bravo Pierpaolo.

Thank you very much, Danny. I just take it one day at a time.
Mom seems to be on a plateau of sorts now - no better but no worse. She still has a healthy appetite, so she still enjoys the dinners that I cook and feed to her.
The Hospice nurse/staff "scheduling" has been a royal pain lately though. Translation: the "scheduled" visits that the nurses set with me seem to be changing at the last minute these past couple of weeks. So, it is an added stress and a lot of time on the phone. I also had to transfer all of her prescriptions to a different pharmacy (so they'll all be from the same place).
Although I didn't serve, I seem to be living by the Marine Corps training: improvise, adapt and overcome.

    Shaving recipe for today.

Prep: Warm shower:/Nivea Men DEEP CLEAN Shower Gel.

    Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face.
Cien ~ PURE Fragrance Free Sensitive Bar Soap + Nuage Menthol shaving Oil.
    Brush: Semogue 830.
    Face Lather.
    Lather: Tabac Original Shaving Soap.
    Blade : Lord Platinum Class.(D1)
Razor: 1940's Thin Handle Gillette Flat Bottom Tech. (ENG)

    Post:
Cold water face wash with brush squeezings, Cold Water Face Rinse. /Homemade (~Spring/Summer mix~) Lemon, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Essential Oils. 3 Menthol crystals Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel./Aloe Vera Gel./Tabac Original ASL.

    Greetings,

A new shave set up to start the weekend...Continuing my month using Lord blades...The Lord Platinum Class blade are smooth and consistent very much like Personna labs in sharpness...I feel as though all the Lord blades I have used over the last few weeks could possibly be the same blade re-packaged giving different names & covers for selling purposes....However, the Silver Star feels more efficient than the Asco Super Stainless.,& Lord Platinum Class, this however could be down to the choice of razor?...As always reviews & opinions are very subjective...What is important is all the blades have been consistent with no dulling or dragging issues to cause irritation or cuts while shaving.

A enjoyable 3 pass + pickups close comfortable /near BBS shave with no errors to report...Finishing the shave off a with a generous splash of Tabac Original ASL.

My face is feeling smooth cool, & smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.

    Razor: Ever Ready Streamline
    Blade: Gem (?)
    Brush: Rubberset 400 Cashmere
    Soap: Moon Soaps Old School
    AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
    AS 2: Avon Excalibur
So today I went with the same Cashmere in the 400 which is a favorite and we were using another sample from Ken Fluffy). This time Moon Soaps Old School scent. This is a new to me artisan. Here's what the site says about the scent:

"It is scented with an "Old School" aroma to match the old school recipe. A strong tobacco note gives way to earthy vetiver, pungent leather, and woody mahogany, all joined by a warming note of vanilla."

The strength is strong enough to get and enjoy without being offensive/in your face. The base was a nice one that I loaded from the sample pressed in the bowl and then face lathered. It was an enjoyable scent and lather although nothing has me wowed to the point that I want to add it (at this time) to the den that I'm trying to keep "manageable" I would have no problem adding it in the future but don't have the "I NEED IT NOW" feeling to run to my mouse and start clicking.

Now the star of the show is a loaner from Tom and I am VERY appreciative of his trust to care for this rare and beautiful razor. I loaded a Gem blade that I have no idea how many uses is on. I LOVE the weight and feel of this razor which has the feeling of a solidly built instrument to wield. 1st pass I was trying to decide if I wanted it laying flat against my face or a slight angle which seemed to cut better. I had no problem with it but we're just getting to know each other and what we each need from the other. I enjoyed the shave even though it felt a little rough at times and the against the grain pass (3rd pass) around the mouth and above the lip area had some tugging. I tend to think it's the blade which will be exchanged for a fresh one before using it again tomorrow. All said and done I feel it is a more efficient and probably the most efficient Ever Ready I have ever used. Do I "want" one ? Are you kidding, who doesn't ?!?! It is still a matter of how much I'd be willing to pay to get one in the den. At the moment I am watching a few but while I'd like one, I haven't been convinced to part with the amount it would take to get one.................YET :D:D Succeeding shaves with a fresh blade will tell. Avon Excalibur is nice after the dry down to me.
Have a great Saturday everyone !!

Lovely shave with an awesome safety razor, Dave! It’s my favorite Gem! Sounds like your troubles are likely with the blade. I look forward to your continuing shaves with it! I wish I hadn’t sold my other Streamline, I would have been happy for you to have it. Enjoy your Saturday! Hope your back is settling down!

Well it finally happened. My son, Ben, owns three of his razors and has been urging me to acquire one. Ben believes him to be the most technically sophisticated dedicated razorsmith currently working. As an aspiring bladesmith, Ben attended a workshop about 10-12 yrs ago. Vic Creazzi gave a presentation there on the pattern-welded Damascus SanMai technique he has developed and Ben was blown away. Well I’ve become quite the admirer as well, and finally bit the bullet and bought my second modern artisan razor. It was supposed to have been delivered this coming Tuesday, but is arriving today. Vic’s technical uniqueness is that he pattern welds a piece of 1095 steel for the edge to the Damascus billet. Ben tells me it is not a trivial task, but rather the mark of a master maker. He’s been attempting it for years with little to no success. In any case, Vic names each of his “fancy razor” creations. Mine’s called ‘Bone Mosaic’. Here are the pictures of my razor from his website. Vic told me it’s ‘nominally’ 7/8 whatever that means. Ben’s coming over this evening to see it.

Awesome shave kit, PierPaolo! The Pils has an excellent reputation! It’s a Dutch company isn’t it? In any case how does it compare to the shaves from your Colonial General? Enjoy your Saturday, my friend!
