When shaving with the AS-D2, it's important to "feel" for the correct angle.
It's quite narrow and easy to lose.
Combine that with a very dense lather, such as was the C&S, one can have the sensation,
that no blade is touching the face.
Rather than give into the urge to press, I stayed disciplined and kept the strokes light,
    relying on gradual stubble removal.
    Results were excellent.
Cleaned off the soap with my now daily witch hazel ritual, followed by, my almost depleted
    Proraso ASB.

Great AS-D2 shave, Joseph! I’ve had the same experience with that safety razor. Great fragrance summary, as usual. I appreciate your detailed fragrance summaries even with my unsophisticated schnozz! Enjoy your Saturday! Has Dr. Mrs. Primo secured a vaccination for you yet?

    Both mild shaver.
General is light and balanced, with the best blades I have. (ProTouch)
PILS is a German icon, but It's muuuuuuuch heavy and totally head-on unbalanced.
And DE blades are good as cheap.

So ... IMHO nothing to compare.
    Two different worlds.

SOTD SATURDAY MORNING, MARCH 20, 2021

Today I’m taking delivery of my second modern artisan razor. I’ll have more to say tomorrow morning after my shave with it. This morning I decided on a vintage - modern artisan pairing for my shave. The 1920s vintage Le Coq Cagehead, a safety razor again required constant attention as it sheared away my noggin stubble, but did leave me bloodless, and oh-so-smooth. For the mug shave, I selected my Rigarazor 15/16. I had confessed in some earlier posts to not being a particular fan of this razor, but remembered that I had repaired a chip on the edge. When I examined it under the USB microscope yesterday after stropping it, I noticed that the area around the repair appeared grainier than the rest of the edge. So I took it to the Naniwa 12k for a refresh, taking particular care to ensure a mirror bright bevel surface throughout the length of the edge, finishing with a final polish on the UF side of my jasper stone with just water until the blade was sticking nicely. And lo and behold, what a difference in the mug shave this morning! Three slow passes left me with a velveteen smooth mug. I feel clean, smooth and refreshed!

RAZOR: Rigarazor 15/16 (Mug), Le Coq Cagehead
    BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE Monster Aluminum Tuxedo Synth
    Soap: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Pre de Provence Bergamot & Thyme Balm.

Thanks for the clarification, Barry! The handle looked black initially to these old eyes in the photo, but as I look again I see it’s a metal handle! Thanks again and enjoy your day!

    Good morning fellas!

    Straight shave # 252
5/8 F W Engels Full Hollow Square Pt
    Omega Pro 49 Boar Brush
    Proraso Green SS
    Clubman Lilac Vegetal AS
    Dickenson's WH
    Nivea ASB

It's the first day of spring! I thought I would celebrate it with an appropriate shave soap. I decided to use Proraso. Did a face lather with the Omega Pro 49 and it turned out creamy and slick enough for my FW Engels to slide down my face. I haven't used this blade in awhile, but I remembered that it needed a refresh on the Crox. Refreshed this blade and it was like a wow experience. It was easily cutting my 39 hr growth. The buttering toast melodious sounds were loud. Lol! BBS- shave was the ticket on 2 passes and no injuries except the opening of yesterday's weep. I decided to use the Veg instead of the matching aftershave. I look and smell fine. Have a great day guys! 20210319_200917.jpg
