I pulled a synthetic knot out of a wood handle this morning and stuck it in one of the Delrin handles. It is very minimalist and I know it is not for everyone but I like it. Take care.

I don't know what to really say about this shave but there is a reason why we don't plug DE razors into the wall.

Awesome Fat lather as usual. It is hard to beat the Fat.

This is probably the second time I have shaved with this animal. It originally had a Gillette Tech head on it and I decided to throw the Gamechanger head on it with a Feather. Try rotating that handle to align a base plate, Feather and a top cap. Lather up, drain the sink and plug it in. I completed three awkward and cumbersome passes. They were very smooth and I was impressed with the glide. No nicks or weepers but this animal is very awkward with the big handle and having to drag the cord around. I felt like the shave from yesterday was closer. Well anyway it was a fun shave and I took this one for the team.

A little witch hazel followed by American Tobacco and this one was in the bag, thankfully.

Happy Hump Day Everyone. I had planned to use Mike's Bay Rum today but a text reminding me of my annual physical this morning made me reconsider. I decided the Cade cream with its light scent might be best in a doctors office this morning. The T3 was once again a joy to use face lathering. Three passes and touchups caught the baby. The Pils razor is just different enough that I need a few shaves to get reacquainted with its narrow sweet spot. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

A very nice three pass shave with the Red Tip this morning. Super close and comfortable without an incident. The alum provided a very cool report. A very nice finish with the CL Unconditional Surrender toner which provides an excellent feel on the face. I have come to the conclusion that the longevity of this scent is not as long as some of the other CL aftershaves and toners that habitat my den. Perhaps the EdT may be a beneficial acquisition.

Went with the Game Changer once again, this time with a fresh Polsilver blade.
Gotta love the double-wrapped blades, that still use glue dots.
Valobra, the defunct, Italian soap---today's flavor, Patchouly, loaded easily
with the Simpson Emperor. Bowl-lathered the product, including one breach-clearing and
the results were...

The lather lays down a very protective barrier between the blade and skin.
The Polsilver has a very smooth and gentle edge, sans any harshness.
Three passes and the cleanup resulted in an excellent shave, even on the nemesis-neck.
Witch Hazel/Proraso removed all soap residue and moisturized my skin.

This morning’s shave supports my assertion that great shavers can appear in unexpected ways. Shortly after I began using my Dovo Special again, I traded a somewhat beat up Gillette Black Tip for my second straight razor acquisition, the Lord 6/8 featured in today’s shave. My friend had given up on straight shaving and traded this 1920’s-30’s Little Art Deco beauty. We were both pleased with the results of our barter. He’d been searching for a Gillette Black Tip in decent condition, and I am not a fan of the head geometry of most Gillette TTO’s.

At that time, my aspiring bladesmith son, Ben, had just completed his jnat progression and was looking for a razor to run through it. I volunteered the then newly acquired little Lord, and again it was a win-win. Ben killed the existing edge, reset the bevel, and finished the final polish, in the process crafting a superb edge that I’ve managed to maintain for over a year with my pasted strop progression. This is the little razor that could and does! What a great mug shave. The edge on this little beauty is truly ‘whisker-melting’.

One of my friends at TSD (@jmudrick) introduced me to the incredible little Shake Sharp SE. It’s the only vintage SE I’m aware of that uses unmodified DE blades. It was designed during the Great Depression as a self sharpening safety razor for the carbon steel DE blades that were then the prevailing blade option. This nickel plated version was my first Shake Sharp; I have three in all. WW2 interfered with its introduction and and the thinner SS blades no longer required the sharpening feature. But when blades are doubled (ie ‘stacked’), it becomes an amazing Dome shaver, and certainly delivered an exemplary two pass ATG noggin shave this morning. I feel clean, porcelain smooth and refreshed.

RAZOR: Lord 6/8 (Mug), Shake Sharp Nickel Plated Model (Dome)
BLADE: 2 Stacked Sharp Star DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE Blue Anodized Aluminum Handled LE #005 with SynBad Knot
SOAP: Baron’s Choice
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Pre de Provence Bergamot & Thyme Balm.

Guess I'm doing a shave soap rule with Nuavia. I have two more to use then on to something else. It is a great soap in my opinion. I'll stay with my Rubberset Aluminum brushes until I have used them all. The Merkur 34C is a fine razor. I did have one come apart on me one time. It took me forever to get it together again.

Glad you got a good shave with that contraption. I wouldn't be brave enough to use it with a sink full of water. Lol! I can see how that cord could be distracting while you shave with that thing.
