I did a fine job shaving this morning, and it might have been a higher grade but for a cut, once again at North Porcupine Alley. If N. Porcupine is a map of the United States, this cut happened in Arizona(chuk yuk yuk yuk). It was kind of stubborn, staying with me throughout the shave, but I knew that the cold-water rinse at the end, followed by the "cooling tonic"of the Agadir aftershave, would calm it down some. Anway, 0:30 to load the Stoylin Pro-Handle(one of my "big boys")with the Razorock Tuscan Oud soap. Thankfully, the cut was the only negative issue. I spent a little more time at N.E. Cactus Nation, trying to make some sense of the hairs growing around there. I think I'll have to keep up with that. Most Excellent.

I’m sorry about the broken router and washing machine. At least the view is worth the hassle.

Worked on the broken handle on the Stahly that was locked. It turns out to be a broken main spring.

I fabricated a couple of blocks to grip the handle in a vise and used a rubber strap to rotate the end cap counter clockwise to unscrew it. This actually puts pressure on the ratchet mechanism.

Becareful and not loose the washer that goes between the cap and shaft.

The main spring is aggravating to get out.

Internal look at the ratchet mechanism which now works.

Hope y'all find this interesting. I put the handle back together without the main spring. Of course the handle ratchets but does not wind. I was able to take a pair if needle nose pliers on the flat of the shaft and rotate the gear set .

    Take care.

Great adjustable shave, Barry! You use the razor as it was designed! I just shave all of mine wide open! Love that blade feel! Enjoy your Sunday!

I tried one of his razors, a 666, Bill. I found the edge sharp, but very harsh! I refinished it on the jasper under water and it made a significant difference in the shave! I bet you won’t be convexing that jasper until you have a spare two weeks or so! ;)

Thanks, Dave, it wouldn’t be a big issue for me, but the bride I guess expected everything to be working perfectly after more than a year’s absence! I can’t wait until tomorrow. :(
