I had a big job last year as well. Huge algal bloom after I removed the cover. Took about a week to get things in shape. Things look much better this year. Those 6 bags of shock look to have done the job. I'll be sweeping the sides and vacuuming, but compared to last year it looks like a walk in the park!

I haven't had a cigar in 10 years. I have a box of Montecristo Romeo and Julieta's in a humidor in the man cave. When the Doc tells me to get my affairs in order, that comes out along with a very old bottle of Pappy I've been keeping. Happy Easter! He is risen!

WOW, now imagine having to travel out of the country and explain to TSA that those are just blocks of shaving soap :happy097::happy102:. nice score Danny.

I was a heavy smoker 2 1/2 packs a day, but I quit about 40 years ago, nevertheless it caught up with me. I have COPD which my Doc attributes to my heavy smoking early in life. I started in the service. I would still have the occasional cigar, but seven years ago had the bottom lobe of my left lung removed, and have been off since.

Joe, Joe, Joe, you mean near a First People's Reserve or rather Native American Preserve or Yeesh! My grandkids are always all over me about the lack of political correctness in my speech! It does get tiring trying to keep up with the latest trends in diction. :D

Great looking horse and razors, Bill! Enjoy your Easter Holiday! Are you vaccinated yet? We are! I'll be taking the Triumph out of storage in a few days. Let's try to plan that ride this year after you're vaccinated.

I’m not vaxed yet. My annual physical is more than a year overdue and scheduled for May. I should have it by then. TR6 ride? You bet!

It can definitely be expensive and unhealthy for sure. I've still got my 2 bag fulls of pipe tobacco. On the rare occasion will I break it out and use it. its calming but not too healthy. I imagine those bags are gonna last me a while It's been a month since I've used the pipe.

Thank you Charlie....that clears it up. Joseph's post the other day was the kick-starter, you moved things along nicely. Happy Easter.

My dad quit cigarettes after his heart attack in 1960, but continued with pipes until near the end of his life.

SOTD EASTER SUNDAY MORNING, APRIL 4, 2021

Happy Easter to all my shave brothers and sisters out there! My focus on the new-to-me 200+ year old Ellis & Allan 8/8 stubtail continues. Most stubtails I’ve seen have much smaller blades. The size of this blade is what initially attracted me to it. But I had no idea how great-looking it would turn out under the very capable hands of master restorer and honemeister, Glen Mercurio. I'm definitely getting the hang of this big honkin’ piece of Sheffield cast steel.

My routine three pass mug shave went well, albeit much quieter than the full and extra full hollows with which I’m used to shaving. I felt the need for a very close dome shave, and there’s no better tool in the den than my Barbasol Floating Head. Two slow and careful ATG passes left your very pleased narrator with the velveteen smooth shave surfaces he craves. I feel refreshed, clean, porcelain smooth and ready for a morning at church with the bride.

RAZOR: Ellis &Allan 8/8 Stubtail (Mug), Barbasol FH (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
    BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger
    CREAM: A&E Shaving Butter
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with A&E Post-Shave Serum.

It was a tough challenge, negotiating the MWF soap this morning. It was invisible for essentially the whole shave(less so during the second pass). I just figured it had to be on my face&neck-I just had trouble seeing it. The immediate lesson here is, get more lather going. Just before the first rinse(after Pass #1), I felt some serious astroturf still on the right side of my face. Lathering the area helped me get it off. But then after the second pass, and as I had already begun the cold rinse, I felt some more along the jawline in the right side. More lather-gone. While I had no Knicks or cuts, I knew I should have done a better job. The Bill Neumann(Wm. Neumann&Co) aftershave felt nice afterwards. It will be interesting to give this combo a try in the summer. Pretty Excellent.
