    MdC~~dubl duck #4~~Wostenholm
Just got the Wosty back from Glen who apart from honing it, replaced the ugly scales.
Edge is sharp. Edgy...I would like it a bit smoother, which may come with a stropping.

The MdC is moving along and there is the beginnings of translucence at the bottom.

Better work on the chin today. It's like peeling an apple.
Finished with a rare use of an aftershave:

I say we are old enough to express ourselves any way we want! We still have the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant that's about 30 to 40 miles north of NYC. The last reactor is due to be decomissioned this month.

    Good morning!

Fantastic shave with the Ambassador lowered to 1. The proper cutting angle was easy enough to find and maintain for my usual three pass, near BBS shave.

    Happy Easter!

Nice shave Paul! I have never tried MWF, but you can't just load it like you would a normal soap. You probably need a few minutes to do so based on the very minimal lather that was produced. Also, it helps to use it every day to keep that soap moist so that it is easier to lather. Happy Resurrection Day!

That was a nice shave Maestro! I don't know what Glen's honing progression was to sharpen your razor, but if it is still toothy after you strop, then may I suggest that you Crox it using 10 laps. I do this with my films, especially when I go to point three microns which is equivalent to 50 to 60 K. It may or may not work, but you have nothing to lose.

I'm still digging out from a move and decided I wanted something other than the 50's Tech or Schick stick shift. So after digging in a box of things I bought from Craigs list, I found a 63 Slim adjustable. After a quick almost nonexistent cleaning I put in a fresh 7 O'clock blade and tackled a five day growth with some Barbasol Arctic Chill. The Slim set at 5 and a nice one and buff resulted in a silky smooth mug I splashed on some Fine's Platinum AS.

    A wonderful shave!

Very nice shave Jim! I go full throttle with my adjustables because I would have to do plenty of buffing otherwise. I realize that the max setting on the Ambassador may be a bit much, but you getting a 3 pass BBS shave on its lowest setting is phenomenal. Did you have to do any buffing? I know that I probably would. Anyway, have a nice Resurrection Sunday!

Well, I'll be using it tomorrow and Monday, too. Perhaps better as I go along. Could be a candidate for a "Monday-Friday" shave some week.

    Thanks, Joe!
All my adjustable razors allow the blade to contact skin at every setting. The only thing I do differently at lower settings is focus more on the angle. Higher settings are easier as I don't have to be as precise with the angle. So no, I don't do any extra buffing, if that were necessary it would mean my technique was off.

    Easter Sunday’s morning shave
Still using the Arko soap, but today I brought out a razor I’ve had for years, and have never used. I’ve seen a few other try them, and thought why not, I’ll give it a go! The razor I’m writing about it a Ronson “shave and sharpens” razor. It uses a proprietary blade, that hasn’t been made in years. I had to modify a DE blade to work. I basically just cut it similar to what you would do for half blade shavevette. Getting the blade in with the correct exposure was difficult, but I got it good enough to work.
Very cool razor I wish I would have played with, all these years I’ve had it. I have a mustache so getting this big razor under my nose wasn’t a problem for me. If you don’t have a mustache, I could definitely see this razor having issues getting under your nose.
For the 1st shave I’ve ever had with this razor, I’m super impressed with it. At least a DFS for sure, and in only two passes!

    Ronson razor
    Modified DE blade
    Arko soap
Pinaud lilac vegetal aftershave (not shown)[IMG]
