The Futur is my best shaving razor. By looking at its bulky appearance I would have dismissed it, but it's given me the most consistent shaves and I rarely ever bring it off the least aggressive setting/blade exposure. I just put a smooth BiC CP blade in it, turn it all the way down to the lowest setting and I get a perfect, problem-free shave the vast majority of the time.

I was scrolling past it and assumed it was a Rex Ambassador but then noticed the knurling is just a bit finer and the handle a bit fatter on the razor in the picture. That site has some neat looking razors up for sale. Reminds me some of Fendrihan in Europe, only with different kinds of razors.

It's not my favorite razor, but I enjoy it. I prefer shorter handles, but I do have a soft spot for adjustables. I use mine wide open as well.

What's seemingly odd is that even though the Futur is the best shaver for me, it's not my favorite razor. My prize razor is my fully restored antique Gillette ABC Empire razor. Which is a brutally aggressive shaver and it doesn't spare any mistakes when I shave. My angles have to be correct and I have to make sure not to go over any spots too many times or it gives bad irritation. If I do everything right then it comes out great. The ABC antique is just the most unforgiving razor in my den. The Futur with the right blade and setting is nearly a can't miss shave.

This morning I tried Fredyx's second soap. Performance is unchanged: a soap that I can't get to lather, but that has incredible smoothness and protection, which makes it excellent.
I couldn't figure out the scent: pleasant, floral....
But I'm aware that my nose, after surgery, lives a life of its own.

Shave of the Week Starting 5 April

    Star SE razor
    PAL blade
    Burma Shave boar brush
    VDH Deluxe SS
    Osage Rub/Witch Hazel w/aloe
    Assorted A/S

Going with a type razor that I haven't used in a lllooonnnggg time, a Star SE. Last time I used it I got very very nice shaves. We'll see how it goes, might be an update in a day or two. The little Burma Shave boar brush is nicely broken in and makes a nice lather especially with the VDH Deluxe, which I like. So It will be an adventure in shaving this week. Now go enjoy your day folks.

    Jayaruh #277 Badger
    Fuzzy Lather Catcher
    Personna GEM SS PTFE
    CWR
    Osage Rub

The Eskimo Tuxedo Shave Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #277 Badger. Two passes and touch ups with the Fuzzy Lather Catcher razor with a Personna GEM SS PTFE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
