SOTD SUNDAY MORNING, APRIL 25, 2021

Great shave this morning featuring my Victor Creazzi masterpiece, “Bone Mosaic” and my father’s Gillette Black Beauty. While not a fan of Gillette TTOs, two of my three adjustables, this Black Beauty and a Slim, belonged to my dad, a Navy veteran who served from 1938 to 1972. He passed at 99 in 2013. Both mug and dome shaves went uneventfully well, leaving me refreshed, cool, smooth and clean.

RAZOR: Victor Creazzi’s “Bone Mosaic” 7/8 (Mug), Gillette Black Beauty (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Alpha Shaving T-400 with 26mm Two Band Badger Ferrule
    CROAP: Stirling Glacial Electric Sheep
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Osage Rub.

Great looking photos and shave lineup Joseph. I agree with your assessment of the Donkey soap. It is a very nice soap.

With. the exception of my name and avatar on the left, my description essentially matches that of @clint64. I would add though that I can't seem to negotiate the MWF. It gives me a decent shave, but, as I wrote some time ago, it's hard to see it on my face except for when I apply it. I'm libel to get a cut or two, as I can't see what I'm shaving. I'll keep "negotiating" it, but I much prefer pucks with screw-on/off tops than "bar-soaps" like MWF and Williams. Pretty Excellent.

    Simpson Trafalgar T3
    Arko shave soap
    Stetson juice

I dug way back in the cabinet and brought out the Arko. Not a fan of the scent but I love its performance. The T3 did an excellent job whipping up the Arko.

The ATT aluminum SE1 is an awesome razor and treated me to three nice smooth passes. No blood loss and the alum was quiet.

A little witch hazel and a couple of squirts of Stetson and this one was in the bag.

    Happy Sunday everyone!

Lovely, Troy! Were you fishing for cuts or Goldens? We have a year round trout season here in Pa! I used to stop by nearby Valley Creek in Valley Forge Park to fish for Browns and Brookies before work back in my younger days. I’d change out of my suit pants and into my waders by the side of the road. :)

Awesome shave, Dave. 900 consecutive shave is a feat and congratulations. You may want to slow down a little....we don't want you wearing out your purdy face. :D Take care.

Very nice shave John! I also use lapping films to hone my razors. Films are a lot slower than stones so you have to add plenty of more strokes per each progression. I assume you have seen the youtube vids on lapping films. I usually start at 80 to 100 strokes on one side and do the same on the other. Afterwards, I halve the number of strokes doing one side and then the other until I hit one stroke for each side. So, if I start at 80, then I go to 40, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1 as I alternate on each side of the edge before I go to the next round of lowering strokes. Usually, I will start at 80 strokes for 9, 5 microns, and then I start at 40 strokes for 3 and 1 microns. At .3 microns, I just do 8 or 10 strokes and no more. Finally, I go to my Chromox pasted strop and do 10 to 20 laps. Wipe the blade and go to 20 to 30 laps on fabric and then 40 to 60 laps on leather. At this point, I am good to go for a test shave. 99% of the time, there isn't any need to tweak the blade. There are many ways to hone a blade. You just have to find what works for you.

Wow...what shaves with very nice razors. I know the Black Beauty is a very special razor. Take care, Jeff.

Just suckered myself into ordering the 8 oz. Royal Copenhagen A.S. from The Perfume Spot. For $21.76. That's twice as much as any Bill Neumann A.S., for $9 less. I'll probably have this for the rest of my life. I always wanted to try that one-perhaps it's due to my blond hair and blue eyes!! Lots of fellas like me out there in Scandinavia.

Let me know what you think of it, Paul. I ordered a bottle of spray cologne yesterday.

Great shave, John! Genco’s are solid razors. Genco, Case, and Thistle Cut blades were made with very fine-grained NY/PA steel. 97% of honing is getting the bevel set right, the rest is just polishing and stropping. It took me a while to set the bevel on my Genco 35 as well. The edge has really held up. You should get yourself a styrofoam peanut to test the edge a la Bill Morgan (@Edison Carter) who came up with the test with peanuts I packed a razor I sent him to work his bumpy hone magic on.. It actually is an excellent metric for testing the length of the edge. I’ve found that any edge that passes the latter test shaves like a dream for me and easily passes the traditional HHT. :)

    Good morning guys!

    10/8 Max Sprecher (39)
    Omega Pro 49 Brush
    Stirling Glastonbury SS and AS
    Dickinson's WH and Nivea ASB
    Whiskers: 46 hrs

    Headshave:

Jones Shakesharp SE ( not pictured )
    2 Rockwell DE Blades (?)
    Same software as above
    3 days growth

Did a 2 pass shave with Mad Max and got a BBS minus without any mishaps. Decided to do a headshave because I still had some soap left and wanted to kill it. Got a nice BBS on the dome without incident. Applied the wh, asb, and the matching aftershave on the face, neck and dome. Overall, it was a very comfortable above-the-shoulder shave.

Oh, the Stirling Glastonbury has gone the way of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Have a nice day guys!
