When I got into wet shaving several years back, I picked up a tube of Tom's of Maine shaving cream - only 3 on the shelf. I heard good things, but wasn't sure if I would like it. I did, used up the tube, and went back for more. None. Not only sold out, but discontinued. So, says I, I like VDH. It's cheap. And I would hate to see it go the way of Tom's. Hey, at a buck-fifty a puck... all these were purchased over the last 8-9 years, so not a huge one time lay-out. So whatchu backing up?
My concern along this line is that I keep worrying that Phoenix AA is going to toss out a particular soap of theirs that I want, in order to make room for new creations.
I know that there are people who like Williams, and no disrespect intended but VDH Deluxe may just be the best cheap shave soap on the market.
Old Spice - anything and everything I can acquire at reasonable cost Vintage Williams shave soaps Coate's shave creams Injector blades Burma Shave collectible gift tins (with mug/soap/brush) and extra mugs - I didn't really need/want the Burma Shave stuff but it was too sweet a deal to pass up - I've PIF'd several of them Truefitt & Hill gift sets (cream/aftershave/cologne) (got them more than 50% off) Golddachs soaps English Leather - mostly aftershaves and colognes
The only place I can still find the VDH Deluxe is at the BX/PX out at Joint Base McGuire/Dix/Lakehurst
Nice row of books. Looks like you do some serious studying in the original languages. Strong's, Zodhiates-I believe. (It's a little hard to see.)
@FatherofSquirrel Getting into some of the original Hebrew and Greek certainly adds to the depth and understanding of scripture.
Small set of backups (2 each) of shaving soaps... barbus, orig erasmus stick, body shop maca, and taylor grapefruit. Also just got an external 1T backup drive for my computer.
I have 18 Arko sticks and 11 Derby sticks for back up. These should last me a long time since I usually shave every other day. Plus I have 10 other soaps and creams in my current rotation and a good 12+ to go into my rotation when I use 1 up.
I have just a few soap back-ups: 8 pucks MWF 6 Speick sticks 6 Wilkinson sticks 5,500 Polsilver blades
Aside from these, do you still have that large rotation of soaps/creams where you get to use a different one each day of the month? It took me years to work through my soaps and really try not to stockpile too much. I really enjoy getting to buy a new puck of soap now. I am still sitting on close to 1k blades that I have been working through for the last number of years as well.
