Finished honing this razor last night. Wanted to give it a try this morning. It shaved well but, she needs touched up on the 12K and 15K stones. Then a good amount of laps on the strops. B-

Tuesday morning shave, F.W. Söderén. One of my favourite besides CVH 30 series, EDV Neiström and Stille.
    Smooth shave!

Hey Scott, the La Lune is a great edge, just not as smooth as the best Jnat, thuri, or coti, but the difference is actually pretty small. You could probably maintain a razor forever with 10-15 La Lune laps per week. Chatting with other honing folks, we all had the thought that it’s the king of barber hones, just as fast and much finer than the vintage BH. Probably ideal for someone that doesn’t want to hone a lot or have a lot of equipment.

Simmons Hornet and a West Side Grinding Company, both 6/8 and very similar German grinds. The Simmons edge is a smooth jnat finished on light tomo slurry. Cream was SMN lathered with a Keyhole 3 and Myrsol Agua Balsamica finished up.

Jnat vs La Lune, 35 glycerine and water strokes for the La Lune after a mejiro finish on a hard Nakayama, probably 8-10k. 20 normal light strokes followed by 15 WOB.

Hard to tell if the La Lune edge is improved over the other La Lune edges, maybe marginally smoother. But the Jnat wins, lol. This particular Jnat does make exceptionally smooth edges though.

I think maybe 25-35 might be a good number for the La Lune with glycerine and water, a bit less for straight water? The edge is impressive for so few strokes though, it’s smooth, not quite Jnat, coti, or Thuri, but no one would have any complaints with the La Lune edge I think.

This razor reminds me of the Lumberjacks that sharpen their Axe's, then shave with them.

Working all the OT that lets me buy shave goodies sure has a way of interfering with how I want to use them.

Evening shaves are okay if I shower first, but not as nice without like today.

    Nice shave though. I’m happy.

Filarmonica 14 Especial, cream was AoS lemon lathered with a Simpsons 58, and Mursol Limon finished up a perfect shave.
