i find the brit flat bottom techs a little more efficient than the post war design techs with the triangular stamped base plate.most likely due to blade exposure.all the different techs have different thickness caps .some caps are slightly narrower so the show more of the blade.by measured stats the canadian prewar tech has the best exposure and it will cut down longer growth more easily.however these differences are miniscule to most folks including myself.techs with a larger exposure offer a greater angle/sweet spot to work with.the post war techs are very smooth but they tend to be milder and plug up more quickly imo..obviously my preference for early brit gillettes is somewhat nostalgia based as well;).in the end they all give a great shave when used correctly ie proper technique..:)

Thanks Danny. It's a 300 mile trip one-way. Depending when I leave, it could take 5 1/2 to 6 hrs in driving time. I am not a speed demon so I have to add at least another hour. Of course, I have to take stops along the way to eat, etc.

Thanks....yes I am but it needed some teeth and a new handle to try out. :)

Someone was nice enough to send me a Yates to try out that arrived today. Thanks Dave. ;) I'll see what all of the fuss is about in a couple of days.

I really like the looks of the Yates...very different. It actually looks like something a Klingon would shave with. I know that is crazy but that is what popped into my head.

Since this is my first shave of the month I figured why not make a razor and put it to the test with 5 days growth.
Results were good as expected for the trial run and yes there was blood . First side of face went flawless but when I got to the other side I got bit twice . My best conclusion is that after the soap forced its way upwards and into the head part the blade became loose and the heel got me . The only thing holding the blade in is the force applied as the plastic stretches to accommodate the blade . I will work on this and add something to tighten the blade . Overall it was a typical El Scratcho Mayhem shave . Woooooooo!

It really isn't. I just have to take the Southern State to go past JFK into Brooklyn and take the Verrazano Bridge into Staten Island to get to New Jersey and take the NJ TPKE to the Delaware-Memorial Bridge and continue west. The NJ Tpke has a few rest stops along the way so I will break up the trip by stopping in one of them. They have food, drinks, snacks, etc. When I get near Baltimore I can either go through it and reach the Capital Beltway and go north or take 40 into US 70 into Fredrick. MD. I am not familiar with the latter route, but I like to a avoid the Beltway at all costs.
