I was excited to use Danny's handle with the Timberwolf knot because it was the first time that I knotted a brush. I have to say that I did a great job because the knot stayed in the handle while I was loading it and using it to face lather. The knot is soft and it has some backbone which is fine with me. It did produce a nice lather and frankly, that's what it is supposed to do. It is a great brush and I thank Danny @Hembree for piffing his handle to me.
However, the shave was something else and not in a good way. I did 2 passes and got a near BBS, but at the expense of some blood loss. I nicked my left ear and my chin as well as a few weeps on my right neck. Moreover, I developed severe irritation on both sides of my neck. Fortunately, the alum stemmed the red tide. The blade is sharp, but it is not as smooth as a Feather or a Rockwell blade. However, I will keep the blade in the Model T, but dial it down to a 4 and see if it tones down the blade. I hit the entire face and neck with the alum and it lit me up real good. Finished this shave with the witch hazel and the matching aftershave.. I smell nice, but my neck still feels and looks raw. I would have to rate this as the worst shave in the last 30 years. Oh well, there is always another shave. Enjoy your day fellas!

Joe, I'll try those blades in another razor sometime. The Windsor seems to love Astra blades the best.

Out with my son this morning. He bought a 1940 Farmall M and we went and picked it up this morning. 5,000 pounds of Farmall muscle. I'm stopping to get charcoal to fire up the new grill. Ribs are on the menu tonight.

Yes, the tractor needs a lot of work but he will get it there.

    Take care gentlemen.

Thanks Dave! Maybe there was a little hyperbole in my statement, but I don't ever recall having a shave where I am raw with weepers and nicks. It was like I was 17 and only recently started shaving. Oh well! I never used these blades before and I just didn't take into consideration how the blade would feel on my skin. I am going to use the T with this blade again before the end of the month and see if I can do a whole lot better by dialing the setting to 4 and using a lighter touch. I am also open to the possibility that the blade is not for me.

Thanks Clint! It's been a very long time that I got a stinker, but I will try the same blade with this razor and see if a lower setting will right the ship.

    Grand Bay Rum Aftershave

Happy Sunday everyone. An early morning shave with a late afternoon post. The boar did a wonderful job face lathering the Mike's Bay Rum. This brush is my favorite boar brush by far. Thanks @Primotenore for the recommendation and enabling. I went back with the Katana for this morning's shave. At this point the Katana is easier for me to use than the R48. I am sure that more time with the R48 will improve my results with the razor. My wife and I have been very busy over the last 2 days. We have been pricing out a master bath renovation and both thought it would take forever to get a contractor we liked with the available time to do the work. Our good fortune is that we start the project on Wednesday. So we have been rushing to pick out all the items for the project. I can certify that I have too much shave crap. Moving it to the guest bath took way too much time. :D I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
