I have confirmed with Chris Cullen that he was the creator of the West Coast Shaving scents. I will correct this moving forward and give Cullen the proper credit he deserves as a scent creator. I do indeed enjoy the Oriental scent. It's always good to have accurate information. I try hard to be accurate when I give credit. I get information from sources that should provide the best info. However, it seems that even when getting information from companies they can be inaccurate. It shows just how easy it is (for even someone trying their best) to end up with inaccurate info.

 

Nothing fancy about my Throwback Thursday choice for tomorrow, but since it is "that special day", here it is:

*A product of the Original, which was introduced in 1949
**-I really don't what to say about AV's origin. Three different years come into play-1917, 1929, and 1935. We know AV was introduced in 1917, but it opened as a mouthwash. Then I've heard from different sources that it became the aftershave it is today in in 1929 AND 1935. Course both years can't be correct-only one. I think it's safe to list 1935 as the answer, as I haven't heard of a later year, but it could also have been 1929, which "throws it back" 6 years earlier. Whichever year it was, it qualifies.

 

What does Cullen say about his company having a company in the East Coast, too?

 

LOL. I didn't ask him that. It's funny. I wonder if they were originally on the West coast but moved a central office East? Anything is possible.

That has always been abundantly clear given the meticulous manner with which your posts are constructed. That is the only reason I pointed it out. I knew you would want to have it correct.

I simply knew it was Chris, because as he was working on this contract with WCS, he and I were discussing it. While it's steady work, it's a lot of work. I consider him a friend, so I wanted him to get credit where credit is due (taking nothing away from Vida). He basically had to roll out those fragrances in a very short amount of time. I was in on the testing before release as well. I assume you know that the individual at WCS who misinformed you has been updated on the correct information. In a way this was a good thing. Otherwise, the WCS rep would have continued to relay incorrect information for who knows how long.

Brush: Omega 11047 Mixed Midget.
Face Lather.
Lather : Scottish Fine Shaving Soap.
Blade: Gillette Nacet. (D4)
Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic.

Cold water face wash with brush squeezings, Cold Water Face Rinse. /Homemade (~Spring/Summer mix~) Lemon, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Essential Oils. + 3 Menthol Crystals Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel./The Real Shaving Co.~ Post Shave Soothing Balm./Denim Original ASL.

Early morning shave,

last outing of the Gillette Nacet which has been consistently good with every shave throughout the week, today again was no exception i feel as though this blade could give me another 2 shaves at least, but i will retire it as four close error-free shaves is enough for me from any DE blade....The Gillette Nacet is another blade i that have haven't added to my blade rotation for quite a while and i have completely forgotten how good these blades are...Out of the Russian blades i've revisited so far the Nacet are my favourite providing a superb trio of smoothness efficiency, and longevity...A great blade.

A Enjoyable 3 pass + pick ups close comfortable shave with no errors to report...Finishing to the shave off with a generous splash of Denim Original ASL.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.

A far too sunny day for the Portuguese soap.
At the ritual sniff I thought it was suitable, instead it has a much more autumnal scent to my nose; however, it is very performing: just a few turns and gives a generous lather for an excellent shave.

The Kai on the V1 (the head, not the missile!) is a libido of mildness and efficiency: that's why they don't make it anymore!
If it works, stop making it!

And the EdT isn't right for this season either, but I didn't know what to pair with the soap: I insist on looking for an olfactory continuity despite knowing that once I rinse my face, no scent remains!

Still, an excellent shave.

The Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap lathered well with Tom's 3D Printed Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gem Style 3D Printed Razor with a Personna GEM SS PTFE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Cella After Shave Balm. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Spearmint scented icicles in my face today - first with the Glacial Spearmint soap and balm followed by the Frosted Spearmint aftershave. Oh my goodness does that soap ever lather like a champ, the scent is so beautiful, the menthol sensation is killer cold, and thanks to the tallow formula it gives perfect skincare. The matching balm is so soothing as well as frigid, and the Frosted Spearmint aftershave has a magnificent scent also, not to mention how powerful the menthol sensation is. Three passes cleaned me up so beautifully - another tip top BBS shave!

On balance my favorite Gillette, the New Improved isn't the smoothest but I love the handling, ease of finding the angle, and the bit of blade feel. Feather (2).

SE SOTD, Thursday, May20th 2021

Razor: Yaqi Excalibur V1- Mfg 2021> great soft mid range, easy to maneuver the face, great daily driver for some folks.
Blade: Chinese 50mm that came with my Shavette(1)- Surprized me with its sharpness & smooth, longevity? Did the job well IMO.
Soap: Razorock Don Marco- nice citrus scents with excellent lather qualities.
Brush: Yaqi 24 mm Tuxedo knot with black marble handle - Excellent lather generator, nice scrub + cloud like soft tips + great lather painter.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave: Razorock XXX with witch hazel + a dollop of Nivea balm.
Results: CCS,DFS,BbS + no irritation + no weepers = excellent shave with my Yaqi Excalibur V1 with a Chinese 50mm blade(brand).
