2021-05-24, Monday A beautiful early fall day, rainy and chilly. This is a soap with a fragrance suitable for almost all seasons and I was immersed in a lavanderish cloud. I tried the Maggard M3 again with the Jagger head and a new blade: a perfect match. And I indulged in a test: I used aloe as a pre-shave. I 'felt' the skin on my neck and decided to use the leaf; once the gel dried, I proceeded to lather. Excellent! The aloe, with the moisture in the soap, aided smoothness and this soap is very sliding. My neck got through the shave superbly even though I felt the alcoholic aftershave. But… no feeling, no pleasure! I had to invest some time in finding the right music: in theory, today, Chet Baker would have been right in line with the day, but I figured I shouldn't get my hopes up too much: this light, disengaged jazz was perfect. And I'm happy with the way this rainy day started! Menthol Monday's Shave Cold Water Rinse Virgilio Valobra Shaving Soap Olivewood Silvertip Gillette Fat Handle Old Type Frankenrazor Personna Super (47) CWR Osage Rub For this week, I pulled out a blade that I used in a longevity test years ago. I got up to 46 shaves and got bored. I decided to set it aside and try it again later. Well, this is the later. I will be using it this week. I will strop it with my Twinplex Stropper after each shave. Here goes. Virgilio Valobra Shaving Soap lathered well with the Olivewood Silvertip Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette Fat Handle Old Type Frankenrazor with a Personna Super blade (47) gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Stirling Mentholated Pre Shave Soap Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole Super Speed/Astra Green day 8 Master Soap Creations Peppermint Latte SS Prep ASB Krampert’s Frostbite AS Splash This Peppermint Latte is a brilliant and precious treasure which my dear friend Fernando worked so hard to produce - the scent is lovely, the lather works up perfectly because it’s tallow based, the menthol sensation hits really hard especially during the second and third passes, not to mention how skin friendly it is. After a nice massage with the Prep and a couple of splashes of the Krampert’s Frostbite aftershave I was good to go. MMMonday, May 24th 2021 Razor: Gem Micromatic Clog Pruf(Peerless version), excellent midrange, smooth glide, great results. Blade: Gem Personna SS PTFE (5) excellent blade, very sharp, great longevity, smooths out nicely & predictable. Soap: Gillette Pure cream, nice clean scent + great lather qualities. Brush: Yaqi 24mm HM Silvertip badger, excellent lather generator , soft tips, good scrub + great lather painter. Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera Gel on the cleaned beard area. Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups. Post shave: Fine fresh Vetiver with witch hazel + a dollop of Nivea balm. Results: CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers= Excellent shave with my Gem MMCP with a coated gem blade. Have some great shaves!
Rex Envoy v. Gibbs Normal (aka +/-) / Feather. While I prefer the handling of the smaller and lighter Gibbs, Envoy gave me superior performance this day.
