Thanks for sharing the results of your Bolzano blade focus. I also haven't seen any benefit in pairing certain blades and razors.

Same here, Paul. I tried a pre-shave oil for awhile. It didn't help, as far as I could tell. In fact, it seemed like I had to work harder to build a good lather. Most often, I prepare my mug with Stirling bath soap and warm water. My favorite is the the Sheep Soap because it is so slick. I plan to try an MWF bath soap bar next since it has lanolin mixed in with it.

I also wash my face and apply witch hazel and moisturizer at night. I think this helps keep my mug in better shape for the next day's shave. I wish I had started doing this a long time ago.

 

First you throw away Clubman...then pre-shave oil...and now blades.... It must be related to some complex tax rules that provide large deductions.

Note to self: check Clint's trash can in case he gets fed up with the Wolfman!

No worries about the NB. It is all in good fun no matter how it turns out. If I want something new this year, I will just throw out hints and eventually @Hembree PIFs me something.

It's not that I'm a scaredy cat, Dave, but I'm not allowed to buy crunchy PB on my NB. Rules are rules.

And nobody wants to see my mug in a video. I posted a couple of mug photos recently. Three people left the forum and grew beards.

 

Jim, it is still a win-win for you. You had the resolve to last 5 months, but I can see why you bought the razor. Congtats!

Prolly need to get some really fine abrasives. I use stropping motions using abrasive tape mounted on a plate.

Gotta go at the lowest angle too. The Edge Pro goes to about 13 degrees from center. Some straights are 7 or 8 from center.
