Jason, I'm glad you're back, and you and your family are the mend. I hope you're fully recovered soon. I'm thankful that the chainsaw wasn't part of your story.
I took a fall a few days ago onto my garage floor coming out of my house. Thankfully, I didn't crack the concrete. Socks, Trex steps, and a big goofy hillbilly in a hurry don't play well together. Got some non-skid strips for my steps and plans to include handrail or two. And I'm OK, but still kinda sore. I hit pretty hard and was fortunate that I didn't break my hip. Dumb mistake on my part.
Thinking of slips and falls...I pitched a half-dozen pairs of indoor shoes that are too slick for hardwood floors. I removed a couple of lightweight folding step stools from the house so I won't be tempted to work from them on the top step (actually a stool). I replaced them with lightweight 4' platform ladders with a safety rail to grab onto...one for inside and another for the garage. I'm also getting an 8' platform ladder to reach high light fixtures and one pesky smoke alarm. I smiled when
@jluc talked about chirping smoke alarms waking him up. That's happened to use several times over the years. Earlier this winter, our bedroom smoke alarm (at 11', can't reach it) failed, and our security system began telling us to evacuate...at 3 a.m. Thankfully, I could disable it until my 8' platform ladder is back in stock.
