Package in the mail. I've been cooking with cast iron for years. Never even heard of carbon steel pans until Clint @clint64 brought them up. I was enabled.

very cool.do they require"seasoning''''like the cast iron stuff, unique care?

Yes. They're a lighter smoother version of cast iron. They need to be seasoned and hand washing with minimal amount of soap or none at all. My old cast iron pan is as non stick as Teflon. I could get away with just wiping it out. I rinse it anyway. Dry it off thoroughly, put a thin coat of oil on it and put it away. I love that pan.

very cool.i don't use my cast iron stuff as our present stove is a glasstop, and was told not recommended.i miss using it.can these carbon steel ones be used on glasstop stoves?

I believe the concern with cast iron and glass top stoves is scratching. The bottom of my new pan is as smooth as as any other pan so I would say yes. I use my cast iron on the glass top stove and yes my glass top is scratched. Not sure to blame the cast iron pan or just normal wear and tear from seventeen years of use.

    Hmmm...
I’ve always cooked on cast iron too. What are the benefits of using carbon steel? I may have missed the past postings about it.

Carbon steel is lighter and they heat and cool faster. Other than that I don't know. For me it's just a new toy to play with.

I would second Gary's post. I love Heather's soaps and recovery splashes, have 4 different fragrance sets. Heather is the brain child behind Zingari Man's formulations.

Have you ever perused this thread? First Tier Soaps & Creams at Sharp Razor Palace? Between that thread (211 pages now!), and the recommendations here on the 30DC, nearly all the soaps and creams I have acquired are excellent.

Some of the soaps in the first post get ranked lower than I would rate them....namely PAA CK-6 and Wholly Kaw, obviously a subjective call, or maybe when Obie tested those he had older formulations. Goes both ways, a couple of the soaps in the top rating.....I would put in the second tier (that subjective call thing again). Then there's Geo F. Trumper, which shows up in several tiers. There's also a couple brands missing, regularly used by 30DC'rs, namely Stirling, CTS, Noble Otter & a couple others. One of those 'can't try 'em all' problems, or maybe Obie has his reasons.

Hi guys! I am safe on Long Island! I was in Staten Island by 2pm, hit Brooklyn by 2:30 and it took me another 2 hrs to get to E. Notthport where my men's fellowship is located. E. Northport is 24
5 miles west of my house. The traffic was a bear on all the major roads so I had to rely on my cab experience to take backroads and it still was a pain. Oh well, it is a good pain because I got to reconnect with some of my nephews this weekend.

The invisible woman was my escort after the wedding. It was great because she didn't talk on the way back to the hotel.
