I don't know if this one counts as a unicorn but it is the same push button flip top design as the Gibbs 9. This one is a Filomatic, Spanish made by a company called Bassat. These razors were made I believe in the mid 60s to 70s. They also made these in a few different colors, I've also seen a collection of them with handles colored, green, red and brown but never seen an actual one of those for sale.
I not really sure that a Walbusch B5 quiet achieves Unicorn status, but it's rare and very sought after. How does it shave: I love the way it shaves and it's by far my best shaving slant.
If both of us have the Liebel can it be a unicorn? Sure why not. One of my favorite acquisitons for its design and history. Sent from my Google Chromebook Pixel (2015) using Tapatalk
Slants aren't my cup 'o lather but I think an adjustable slant is the bees knees. I imagine some engineering thought had to go into that.
How rare or unique, I don't know, but I have a Brazilian Mono-Tech T3 that gives a fantastic shave I consider it the poor man's #58
Never seen another example, Gebr(uder) Lang Old Type style DE with inlaid handle. If not unique I expect quite a few less were produced than my Liebel. Lang is known as a Solingen maker of straight razors. Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk
The one is definitely not a unicorn but a rarity the other I actually don't know. Both are based on the Gibbs 15/17 Reglable, but both take standard non-modified DE blades. On the left a Personna Precision, which is pretty difficult to find and on the right a Palmera No 7 even more so. I see that @oldtech found a Personna in the wild this weekend for the princely sum of $20 - awesome AWESOME score. Yes the TopCap of the Palmera is wider than both the Gibbs and Personna and actually covers the tabs. How do they shave: Personna, I find it a bit draggy Palmera, pretty much like a Gibbs.
I imagine quite a few/some/not many were sold but whatever I haven't seen a Hoffritz Futur appearance in a forum post in a decade or so. Certainly compared with the commonly seen Hoffritz Slant it's a very rare bird . I find no ads for it. Distribution may have been limited to one of the New York shops. while the brit rfb 2 piece isn't that rare and there were many version/upgrades during the manufacturing era this is the only late one i have seen on any forum..notice the creased fb tech design cap,no pats on handle .late model on left.possibly post war.last of the 2 piece razors. early and late brit new rfb 2 piece. thoughts anyone?
It's an amazing shaver =) it gives a close but very soft shave. I married 6 months ago, and it was the one I chose for my morning shave that day.
I had the same two versions and wondered the same thing. One of them had siginificantly beefier teeth…
