June 24 SOTE Good evening guys! Shavette Shave #275 Parker SRB Rockwell 1/2 DE Blade (5) MrEE Gold Tuxedo Brush Gentlemen's Nod Zaharoff Signature Series SS and AS Maggard's Alum Block Dickinson's WH Whiskers: 25 hrs I decided to shave tonight because I want to get back on my schedule by not shaving tomorrow. I haven't used GN Z Sig. Series in awhile because it is a very lightly scented soap to my nose and I prefer a more robust scent off the puck. As I was loading the soap, the scent did get a little stronger, but I have to put my nose right on top of the brush. It is a pleasant scent, but I wish it was much more abundant. The aftershave does not smell anything like the soap because it has a much darker, masculine scent. I really am not a fan of it. However, I will use it because I do not like to waste anything. On to the shave, I did 2.5 passes because the blade was not super sharp. I ended ith a BBS minus shave without any mishaps. Cold water rinse and then applied the alum. There was little feedback from the alum. Witch hazel and the matching aftershave was splashed on my face to finish the shave. Alright, I am looking forward my Sat. shave with my Dovo shavette and either Stirling Spice or Cella Red will be the soap. Take care guys!
Gary the Cella blue is very easy to lather. The blue works very well for me. I have not used the red so I can't compare the two. Keep in mind the blue is vegan based with a different formula. I just didn't want you to think they were the same.
thank you Joe.we are facing a heat bubble over the next few days.35-45 Celcius.i foresee more menthol shaves ..
awesome "ze hair off" shave and pic Joe.. i often wonder where they come up with these names like gentleman's nod..
ok, thank you Clint.i liked the way cella red lathered, just wasn't a big fan of the cherry /almond scent.i would still have it if it didn't spoil though.
When I was shopping for the Cella Blue (summer 2019), the only thing I could find was the shaving cream tube version. I can't find an ingredient list online for the tube version, and there isn't a list on the tube I have (box long gone). Here is the ingredient list for the Cella Blue Shaving Cream in a tub (the one Clint has): I would hazard a guess that the ingredient list is identical for the tub and tube 'Bio' lines, as both are listed as cream. The difference may be the water content? The marketing for the Cella Blue label line is 'Extra Extra Bio' certified organic product, 'guaranteeing cosmetic effectiveness and respect for the environment'. I've never found either the Cella Red tub or the Cella Blue tube I have to be hard to lather. It's kind of the opposite, lather explodes quickly, much like Proraso Red or Green does for me (but without the Proraso after residue left on your brush, sink, tools, etc.). HTH.
I always liked the lather, very quick and slick.i may just get a tub or tube of each when a soap or 2 depletes.thank you for all the info gents..
According to my calculatons, you are talking a range of 95 - 113 ° F. I could be wrong but 113 degrees in Canada is very hard to hit. Actually, it is hard to hit anywhere unless you live in a desert.
You are welcome Dave. I have reviewed this soap a few times and unfortunately, I bought into the hype. It is an expensive soap ($7/oz) and I am disappointed with it. The caveat is that my nose is congested and I need a strong scent to pick it up. Gentleman's Nod has other selection on their site that may be have stronger scents but this collaboration with the world reknown perfumer Zaharoff fell flat as far as I am concerned. Unfortunately, Gentleman's Nod doesn't offer samples to purchase. I think all these companies should make samples available so that if you like the scent, then chances are you would buy the puck or tub. This way a consumer wouldn't find himself or herself having buyer's remorse.
Thanks Blair! I am trying to run up my shavette shave totals to be near my straight razor totals. There is a 5 shave differential.
