    Menthol Monday's Shave
    zcws.jpg

    Cold Water Rinse
    Virgilio Valobra Shaving Soap
    Jayaruh #1 Silvertip Badger
    ISKRA Safety Razor
    Personna Super (59)
    CWR
    Osage Rub

The ISKRA was made in Russia and means spark. It is from the 1980s and seems to be the same razor as an Astra or Schick that I have seen. The Jayaruh #1 is the first brush that I made. I reknotted it with a silvertip badger a while back.

The Virgilio Valobra Shaving Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #1 Silver Tip Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the ISKRA Safety Razor with a Personna Super Blade (59) gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Menthol Monday:

    Stirling Mentholated Pre Shave Soap
    Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
    Super Speed/new Astra Green
    Stirling Glacial Eskimo Tuxedo SS
    Stirling Glacial Unscented ASB
    B&M Arctique AS Splash
    Bleu de Chanel Deodorant Stick
    Bleu de Chanel EdP

These Astra Greens are my favourite blades because in spite of my tough beard they give me excellent longevity, they’re very sharp, smooth, and forgiving. The Glacial Eskimo Tuxedo soap’s scent is gorgeous - it’s exactly like Sharp Dressed Man also from Stirling but the menthol fumes really jump on you when you open the container. The lather is such a delight to work up, especially with this wonderful Yaqi Barber Pole, the tallow formula gives it such slickness, and the menthol sensation is killer cold but the skincare is perfect. The Glacial Unscented balm is one of the most moisturizing and soothing products I’ve ever used, and it gives a hell of a menthol punch. The Arctique aftershave is so frigid that you need only a small amount. What a super duper BBS shave this was!

Have a good week - be well and safe!

I have a Ben Hur slant in the post so figured I'd go slanty this week in preparation. Kai blades today in the Wanton Destruction Old Type Slant and the Fatip OCS. The Old Type Slant can get toothy if you don't get the angle right but I found it particularly easy going on my head where it did a great job. The Fatip is considerably less demanding and quite efficient. Not much left but Tom White's Slant waiting in the wings for tomorrow took care of some tiny pick-ups. Great fun today.[IMG]

Shave of the Week Starting 28 June 2021

    Yintal razor
    Voshkod blade
    FS Silver Tip brush
    Viking "Citron" SS
    Osage Rub/Witch Hazel w/aloe
    Assorted A/S

Had to have another go with the Yintal razor. I was afraid that the last outing with it might have been a fluke and that this razor would suck this time around. Wrong! This is, for me, a fantastic shaver. Got a 2 pass DFS+ shave with no nicks, no cuts, no errors. My face is very happy. Now go enjoy your day folks. shave2.jpg

    Full Measure of a Monday
I saw these Albatross blades in a local store so I thought I'd give them a try. It got the job done, but they are too rough for regular use. This is the fourth shave with the T2 - I bought it to compare with the Model T. The T2 is built more solidly and shaves a little smoother than the Model T, though I think it might be a little less efficient/aggressive. I do the first pass on my cheeks and upper neck on 6, then dial down to 2 for my lower neck and near my nose. I then finish the shave on 5 with XTG and ATG on my cheeks. Only one pass on my lower neck works best for me. I got a couple small weepers and a little burn, not too bad, but I'll be happy to return to voskhod blades. Albatross has a website ending in ".it" so I guess that means it is Italian. They have a program to send them used blades if they cannot be recycled locally.

    Rating: 3.5 / 5

    Razor: Rockwell T2
    Blade: Albatross
    Brush: Lutin Chubby Lightning
    Pre-Shave: Proraso Red
Lather: B&M Full Measure of a Man
Aftershave: B&M Full Measure of Man Balm
