Danny, may I answer for Scott? You always have to strop your razor before every shave. I know Scott recommended 35 linen and 35 leather, but stropping on linen is not necessary. I do 40 to 60 laps on leather. I occasionally will strop on linen to make sure my razor is dry after I let the razor air dry following my shave for 20 min. I am not saying I am right and that Scott is wrong. Every straight shaver maintains their razors differently. I am just giving you another option. One more thing, if you are not going to use the razor for more than I week, then you need to oil it to prevent oxidation.

    Razor: AA Gen Takahashi Tokusei
Brush: Hembree Derlin Paragon Boar 25 mm
    Lather: Dr. Jon’s Gravity
Aftershave: Stirling Electric Sheep - Glacial
    Osag eRub
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Stirling Tea Tree Witch Hazel
    Nivea Cool Balm

Most excellent shave on the hot day here on LI. I decided to go with the Glacial Electric Sheep splash along with the Osage Rub to provide a wonderful cooling effect.

Excellent three pass shave once again. This Japanese razor is a pleasure to use. Easy to maneuver and provides a super close shave.

Hope you all are staying cool. Have a great evening gentlemen.

There is no foul in upgrading a straight razor focus to a sharper open edge tool.

Another quick shave in the books.

ProGuard blade on board Essence razor
Dab of Derby Brushed up by Tuxedo
    Stirling Glacial Citron

The more I use this stuff the more I like it.

Loading and unloading the blade is especially nice with the magnetic mechanism.
