Another W&B (hollow) ~7/8ths with some new shoes. The coticule edge on this leaves behind a velvet smooth face to remind you of what Sheffield steel can do. This old blade has pitting which ends up working out as pretty good jimps on the shank.
This shaver made it back to me at the same time that Grecian Horse made it my way.
Subconscious or Serendipity whatever you call it.

Awesome lather this morning. Soap Commander is dependable and always provides some very nice lather.

So where did that Focus Slim come from? It showed up yesterday on loan from the den of Bill's @Edison Carter. I have always like the looks and construction of the Slim. I asked Bill about his thoughts on it and he offered it up for some test runs. I appreciate his generosity.

So what do I think about it? Does it check a few boxes for me? The first thing that jumps out at me is the light weight. I'm a fan of light razors and this one is a light weight. All machined aluminum and even the scale/handle is a solid piece of machined aluminum. The retainer and pivot pin appears to be stainless steel screws. The razor is thoughtfully executed and fabricated. It is available in multiple colors. Me likie a lot but how does it shave?

Loading the blade is no problem. You just have to pay attention and place the curved part of the snapped area of the blade down and then slide the lock plate into position. The curved area provide a little bit of tension to secure the blade between the plates. I like the fact that the corners of the blade are covered.

The angle is easy to find and I completed two very nice passes except for a weeper above the Adam's apple. No biggie and the alum was almost quiet.

I have been trying to focus on my straights but I could not resist trying the Focus Slim out this morning. It is a very nice shavette and I'm looking forward to some more shaves with it.

Showered last night but was exhausted and did not shave. Was going to skip it this morning as I had to be in at 6am, but was looking a bit too shaggy.

1 pass with the Barbasol canned goo. Good enough to get cleaned up for work, but not particularly close nor comfortable.

No blood letting and done with the shave in under 3 minutes.

I broke out the Alumi-Tar today. First pass set at 4 was wonderful. Second pass at 4 produced a few weepers. Third pass set on 2 left a small minefield. I shouldn’t have re-used the blade. I’m thinking it was the cause for the rough ride. I’ll find out on Thursday on my next shave with a fresh blade.

If a setup like this doesn’t freeze your face off nothing will. This was my first time using the Glacial Citron soap and aftershave - already I’m in love with them. They both have such a lovely scent which is exactly what it implies - citrus to the max. Lemon, lime, grapefruit and perhaps tangerine all come together to make this soap smell so refreshing and summery, the tallow formula promotes such fantastic lather which has the typical Stirling slickness, the menthol sensation is strong enough to chase a polar bear out of the Arctic, and the skincare is perfect. The Glacial Unscented balm provides terrific moisturizing and soothing with a lulu of a chill, while the Glacial Citron aftershave has the same beautiful scent as the soap and it’s a bona fide menthol atom bomb. Another picture perfect BBS shave which was so much fun!
