It is really great to have a generous guy like @Dave in KY to allow me to test this wonderful tool before I start coughing up the Benjamin Notes.

From what I read, Schick Prolines are faves in this tool, I could see why.

I did not really care for Feather Supers and wanted to test a guard type blade. Guard blades stem from the late 60’s R&D cash to Personna by parent Co. Phillip Morris. Personna still markets their Bump Fighter razors, which are targeted towards men if African heritage who are especially victimized by high blade count cartridge razors.

Besides the Artist Club format, guarded blades are common in other professional barbering and beauty tools.

I was very impressed with my results. If I wind up buying one of these, This setup will be the baby chasing machine.

Early evening shave following a day of splitting wood. I will be back t it again tomorrow. The scent for both pieces of software pair nicely. The brush whipped up a nice think soothing lather for my usual three pass shave. My face and neck where left super smooth without any incidents.

Hope you have had a great day gentlemen.

There was some discussion of Roller Guards and it reminded me of my Roller Guard razor. The company made a Roller Guard to use with Gillette Old Type razors that came in a Green Box seen in the pic. I had one and sold it in a moment of weakness......

They also produced their own razor Called the Roller Guard Razor and I was able to get one of these some time back. The spiral guards do in fact roll as you shave and are quite comfortable. I find the shave with this razor VERY mild and requires putting more pressure than I'm willing to to get as close a shave as I like. I need to try the guard on an old type to see how it does at some point. Close comfortable shave and love the Russian Tea scent that evokes some memories for me. Wish a modern soap maker would do this scent in a better base. It's MONDAY.........TRY to Have a Fun Day Folks !!

SOTD MONDAY MORNING, JULY 19, 2021

Didn’t sleep very well last night. My mug shave this morning, however, put things to rights! Vintage straight razors speak to many of us! Herders, Henckels, Wosties, Wade and Butcher, Joseph Rodgers are some of the classic Solingen and Sheffield razor brands bandied about among collectors. Many of us when we get started begin with lesser known brands. In my case, this Lord 5/8 imported Solingen blade razor was my second straight razor. I traded a well used Gillette Black Tip for it. This is the razor I learned to hone on. It's a great little shaver, and has always delivered a good three pass smooth shave, as it did this morning.

The LeResche 77 is a great little noggin shaver, and cleared away my dome stubble in two comfortable ATG passes. According to B&B in 1935 the French company Leresche (of Swiss origins) listed their patent application for the #77 razor. This 4 piece razor has a unique guard bar (like shark jaws) which is incorporated into the upper cap of the head. The head is also slightly wider than a typical razor's head allowing the shave angle to be found more easily. The design also locks the blade in tight, which makes for a highly efficient shave. Originally, these razors were silver plated and weigh almost 70 grams. Two ATG passes and left me cool, clean and dolphin smooth.

RAZOR: Lord 5/8 (Mug), LeResche 77 (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Rearden Razor 316L SS Tuxedo Synth
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Krampert’s Frostbite and Cremo Cooling Post Shave Balm.

Happy Monday Everyone. A very uneventful shave this morning. I like these types of shaves where all the hardware and software play well together. Three passes and touch ups ended in a drama free BBS shave. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

    Soap: JoHS BoS

    AS: JoHS BoS

    Good morning!

Finished an excellent run with the Aluminum Karve today. I used the A, C, and G baseplates. Wonderful results from all.

The A plate required the most focus on maintaining the effective angle but by the second shave I had it dialed in. Long strokes keeping the leading edge of the blade on skin. No buffing required when I get the angle right the first time.

The C plate I've had for a while. Very little blade feel and a large enough sweet spot to give a smooth easy mindless shave.

I didn't think I would enjoy the G plate as much as I do. A fair amount of blade feel but still smooth and never felt as if it wanted to bite.

Jeeves of Hudson Street BoS. Lovely powdery tobacco scent. It'll be a sad day when it's gone. Fortunately my tub has a lot of shaves left.

    Have a great day! [IMG]

It has been a busy weekend and I decided to disconnect as well. I figure I will just jump back in and if I missed something important please let me know.

Excellent lather this morning. I really enjoy the older Fine soaps.

Two very nice passes with Bill's Focus Al. The Focus had two days growth to deal with. It is a dream to use and feels solid on the hand. The alum was almost completely silent.

Finished it off with some witch hazel and a few squirts of the juice.

I hope everyone has a great Monday.
