You can take it from someone with excellent math grades………..

…….. use care when counting pushes the limits against the number of fingers available.

I’ve always admired that Williams razor of yours, Dave, since first seeing it on the other site. How’s it shave?

Thanks Jeff, Honestly with attention it can give a great shave but it's VERY mild and a narrow sweet spot. More a novelty item than a quality tool.

Happy Hump Day Everyone. The master bathroom remodel is nearing the end. I decided to work from home today to make sure the punch list gets completed to SWMBO's specifications. ;) The little boar did wonderful job loading and lathering the LEA classic shave soap. I really like the performance and scent of this soap. Back the the Muramasa again today. I did increase the setting to # 4 giving the razor a 0.80 mm blade gap with a blade exposure of 0.07 mm. During the shave, I did not really notice any difference in the feel of the razor. At #4 the razor might have had a larger sweet spot but it's difficult to tell. Three passes and touch ups ended in another automatic drama free BBS shave. A splash of the LEA aftershave and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

Agreed, Dave. At the risk of @Hembree telling me that I think too hard, here's what I really do. ;)

It's handy for guys like me that can't reach their toes. :D

SOTD WEDNESDAY MORNING, JULY 28, 2021

I’d forgotten what a quality product Nancy Boy Signature shave cream is. If I had to choose a single shave soap and a single shave cream to use for the rest of my life it would be MWF and Nancy Boy. Both products have a post shave feel second to none! Nancy Boy has been around for almost two decades, and have built their business on the quality ingredients in all their products. Marketing is all by word of mouth. The money saved goes into quality ingredients. They also make a Sandalwood cream from genuine sandalwood for those of you who appreciate original ingredients.

My shave this morning featured the 1815 Ellis & Allan 8/8 Stubtail. It's an intimidating looking straight razor. It was imported from Sheffield England by the Virginia Mercantile Firm of Ellis & Allan which went out of business in 1824. The latter partner, Jonathan Allan was Edgar Allan Poe’s stepfather. Its size and heft is initially a bit off-putting, but its restored edge, bone scales and amber wedge were wonderfully crafted by the inimitable Glen Mercurio in his Sandpoint, Idaho razor beauty spa. The three pass mug shave checked all the boxes.

My noggin shave featured Fine Accoutrements’s modestly named “World’s Finest Safety Razor”. It’s a 316L SS safety razor purportedly modeled after Gillette’s New Deluxe model. It delivers a good shave, but in all honesty, I prefer the original over this homage. I do like the sticky knurling on the handle, and the shave met requirements, but this razor is not part of my regular rotation and has been listed on a number of BST’s. Two ATG passes cleared away the dome stubble, but although the shave was solid and competent, it just doesn’t stand out in comparison to the safety razors in my regular rotation.

RAZOR: Ellis & Allan 8/8 Stubtail (Mug), Fine Accoutrements’s “World’s Finest Safety Razor” (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
    BRUSH: JR Cashmere Synthetic #343
    CREAM: Nancy Boy Signature Scent
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Nancy Boy Signature Scent AS Gel.

    Razor: H&S Co PO76 17-4
    Blade: Gillette 7o'clock PermasharpStainless (3)
    Brush: Zenith Boar
    Pre-shave: PAA Cube
    Soap: Stirling Boat Drinks
    Stirling Orange Chill Witch Hazel
    Stirling Glacial Balm
    AS: Stirling Boat Drinks

    Good morning!

Wonderful shave to start the day!
My three shave run with the PO76 17-4 stainless razor is done. Good amount of blade feel that stays smooth as long as I maintain a shallow angle. It feels like it's scraping at steeper angles. I think I'll go with the Titanium version of the same razor tomorrow to see if I notice a difference in face feel.

    Have a great day!

Great Muramasa shave, Clint! We’re caught up in a remodeling project as well. I’m having all three of the external doors replaced. They’ve started on the main door. It’s rather noisy!

Thank you Jeff. This master bath project has been going on for some time. Honestly I am ready for it to be over. At this point the main contractor needs to set the toilet, hang the mirrors, hang the towel rods etc and minor touch ups. Swati wanted me here today to make sure the mirrors and towel rods etc were placed where she wanted them to be. We have ordered the frameless shower doors which with luck will be installed next week.
