I was a middle school math coach for a few years. The students were being taught chisanbop in class. I had never heard of it before. They tried to explain it to me, but I never caught on since I suffered from a severe case of the old dogs and new tricks syndrome.

Terrific shave, Joe. I always enjoy your shaves but probably not as much as you. Take care.

Thanks Jeff. I do have some Pros and Supers. Bill sent me a Pro Guard blade when he sent the Slim Al to me and suggested I give it a go in the Essense. Ryan was also generous and sent some blades with it.

I think I'm going to try a snapped DE Blade in it to begin with. I've been running DEs in the other shavettes and I feel more comfortable coming out of the gate with a known variable. I do intend to try out the AC blades.

I will say this about the Essence.....it feels nice in the hands and is a looker.

My day to cook, drive by food post…

Sous vide chicken thighs, 150 degrees for 3 hours, then drizzled with BBQ sauce, grill with the brats for 20ish minutes.

New Fireboard 2 w/Drive capability (haven’t used the drive unit). 3 probes this time, really didn’t need, but first time to use the new system.

Probe 2 is outside temp (finally summer in North Texas). Probe 4 is the grill grate surface temp, probe 6 is the default egg temp location (hole in the top lid). So…..probe 4 explains why most of my smoke times (meat temps) are 30-50% faster than an offset smoker, as I’ve always used the default probe temp location.

Chicken was super tender and juicy, but nice and crispy on the outside. Sides were BBQ baked beans and sautéed spiralized zucchini. Not entirely keto, but close enough for today.

    Quick shave

    2 tone tall brush
    Mash mug of work-off
    Essence Razor w/ProGuard(6)
    Stirling Duke AS

Great shave. I love this tool. Might be the RAD killer for me….well maybe just one more.

Work-off is what we did in the printing ink business with mistakes. It usually wound up as black. It was explained to me in the scientific terms of ‘spitting in the soup’ vs ‘peeing in the ocean’ or something like that. It seems applicable to soap.

ProGuards work best low angle, low pressure, kinda like most shaving stuff. If you press for a blade feel, you won’t get it, you get a roughness. They can be excellent training aids, or for carefree flying.

I think this is the first time I used Duke. Masculine floral scent, don’t overdo it.

Really cool razor and WW combination Dave. I think you’re gonna have to look into some warehousing space soon for your vintage collection. 30DC’rs used to tease Jim on that (but for modern DEs), but that spotlight may be on the move. :eatdrink013:

Great thoughts on the Muramasa Clint. Been following along…. Awesomeness!

Super fun blade Jeff. So cool. Wait…..they made 8/8 razors…~200 years ago!?! What’s with all these guys calling 8/8 blades and designs over in the straight razors thread ‘modern’? ;)

OMG purdy Jim! Fabulous colors and combination. Look forward to the Ti comparison.

I hearby dub thou ‘Open Edge Natural’. Giving out shavette comparisons now….. Very cool Danny!

Such an awesome example of the W&B blades Joseph! Cool everything. And more some more fraghead homework….:signs021:

Great read and details Paul, sometimes it’s just a quick 1 passer to make the morning get moving. PE shave works.

Super nice shavette and The Veg shave Joe!

200 blades incoming? Wow. That’ll keep you going for awhile James. Very nice MMOC Gem shave. Too much lather? Nah, can’t be. :D

Congratulations, Bill! I know I’m not over my RAD, despite the Tedalus. I just bought a Hoshi Tonbo 8000 symmetrical grind. I do love Japanese razors, and this model is rarer than hen’s teeth. Found one in Australia and bought it! It’s Ben’s favorite Japanese razor. So when the right one showed up I snapped it up!

. Actually, Blair, it was very old NOS and consisted of just the huge honkin’ blade. Glen added the bone scales, custom washers, amber wedge, and built a bevel on what looked like a Bowie knife! It shaves ok, not as well as some of my others, but owning a razor linked to Edgar Allan Poe is just too cool for school! :)
