As always, your shaves and posts are tops. I like stronger scents but I don't think I would be peachy keen on this soap. However, I went against my not written in stone NB on soaps. I wanted to get the matching aftershave for my Angora Soaps Midnight Lavender that I found on the site of The Razor Company. I just didn't want to buy just one thing when they give you free shipping on orders of 10 dollars and above. I wanted to try Shannon's Soap and they just dropped The Warrior. I got it with my order. It was a limited run because all the proceeds go to a lady wetshaver who has cancer. So, I thought that was a nice thing on Shannon's and TRC and that is why I boughy it. It supposedly smells like baby powder.

Excellent Torrey shave, Joe! I hope you enjoy your stint with the Tedalus! Make sure to try it with a Feather Super. Close your eyes while shaving! It will feel like you’re shaving with a well-honed straight! :)

Thanks! It is a tradition every year, but due to Covid restrictions we could not do it last year. I haven't seen one of the people attending in 2 years due to the Covid restrictions.

SOTD SUNDAY MORNING, AUGUST 8, 2021

This morning I shaved with my son, Ben’s, first Forged Damascus 6/8 razor. He made the billet from welded layers of 1084 high carbon and 15N20 nickel steel. He then folded it and refolded it. He calls the pattern “swirling seas”. I call it a good first effort! The scales are made from Bhilwara Heartwood. It contains a wooden wedge, and thus is only pinned at the pivot point. I set the bevel on a Chosera 1k and then took it through 12k and finished on the 9 Ball Slate with a touch of Smith’s Honing Oil. Then through the pasted 4 sided Constroption with a finish on my newly acquired Roo-skin bench strop. Thanks, Bill!

I’ve always had a soft spot for Omega Pro48 Boars! They’re cheap and once broken in, awesome lather machines. I just never liked the handle. I have two, one with the original handle and this one, which one of our very talented TSD turner artisans transplanted into this beautifully crafted Sapele/Resin Handle. It certainly did the trick, generating the two types of MWF lathers I like for my shaves. With the Traveling Wilburys “Handle With Care” playing in the background I launched into my usual three pass mug shave. The razor felt good in hand and swept away the facial stubble leaving me very smooth!

The dome shave featured Henry Gaisman’s final Autostrop design, the VC4, and the only one featuring a safety bar as opposed to the open comb on all prior Valet Autostrop models. The design came into being as Gaisman was exiting the CEO/Chairman’s role at Gillette Corporation. It is my personally favorite Valet Autostrop model. It was the 9th shave for the Feather FAS-10 blade, so I Autostropped 40 strokes. The two pass ATG noggin shave went well, although I chucked the blade after the shave. I feel cool, clean and velveteen!

RAZOR: Damascus 6/8 Bhilwara Heartwood Scales (Mug), Gillette Valet Autostrop VC4 (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather FAS-10 Carbon Steel
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: JT Sapele/Resin Handled Omega Pro48 Boar Knot
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Pre de Provence Bergamot & Thyme Balm.

    Hi all.
    An interesting weekend here.
I went 2 days, thats right 48 hours without shaving.
    Just showered and go.
This isn't normal for me because my face and neck itch something awful if I let the beard grow.

    But this morning....
Using my early 1901 GEM Bar razor with a Personna GEM SS blade.
    20210808_084706.jpg
I brought out my newly acquired shaving mug for the Lucky Tiger liquid shaving cream.
I also lathered up with my Omega Boar brush.
I haven't used it for quite a while.
It's as good a brush as ever.

For those who have never used LT after shave lotion, it has a gentle fragrance without alcohol.
I personally like an alcohol based AS with a cooling kick of menthol.
But the feel and scent of this is great, needs no other components.

2 passes on the head and face, I've dulled the blade to an unusable state.
Feeling human again I'm ready for the day.
All the showering in the world can't compare to the clean feeling I get from a nice shave.

    Enjoy

    tp

Great shave like always and thanks for the tip, Dave! Have a super day!
Nice shaves Jeff! Your son is talented. Have a great Sunday!
Gee, I can just imagine how that heavy beard feels after 2 days. I am blessed that I do not get the itchiness when my beard grows. Anyway, great shave and have a great day, Terry!
