Good luck finishing up that job, Jaro! Making the ceiling smooth again after whacking a hole in it to repair a pipe is no small feat! I think there's some magic involved with making it look smooth again. I ended up adding a "popcorn" finish on the whole ceiling just to help hide the hole I'd cut in it to reach the pipes. Even after lots of fussing with it, I can still see the rectangle I'd cut out to reach the pipes. My wife says it's not visible, but I can still see it. Girders, beams, jacks, and concrete are fine, but finish work with sheet rock drives me nuts! Hope your project went better than mine did! - Bax
@Bax we are all our own worst critics. I can drive myself crazy looking at the mistakes in my quilts, that no one else notices.
I've worked 25 years of construction and still don't like to mud. Two bit of advice 1) in the application ... less is better, 2) Feather, Feather, Feather. When that doesn't work ..... hire an expert and pay well.
I agree we are our own worst critics. I don't really have a problem redoing sheetrock although there are a million things I would rather do. I also agree use the least you can get away with and get it as smooth as possible before it dries because that means less finish work. Thanks all. Will post a pic when done.. Whenever that is.
I finally taught my daughter how to patch a bicycle tire. First she didn't want to learn it (why shouldn't I just bring it to the repair shop?) and then she never had a punctured tire ;-)
Good Job. Walking with a bike sucks..... ***** It was in the mid 90s here today and I put about 40 miles on my bike. At what became the midway point, I stopped for a rest and ended up stepping on a yellow jacket nest and getting stung 3x in the right ankle. I wish I could have burnt the nest of those buttholes but I rode home with a throbbing swollen right ankle and foot.... Not very manly, but at least I am not allergic to them.
One of my favorite beers when they still sold it in the small pony bottles. Was the perfect size to drink it cold and get it all down before it started warming up and you realized it's a nasty beer.
Sugru is great stuff. I just fixed a cord on a vacuum cleaner. The molded reinforcement where the cord enters the machine was broken. I formed the black sugru into a smooth shape over the reinforcement and it looks pretty good. Hope it holds up.
I organized the garage. I mowed the yard, then I climbed up on the garage, and cleaned all the leaves, and branches off. I played with the dog, thencooked her about 2 pounds of wild boar I had in the deep freezer. I went grocery shopping, picked up my daughter from school, and made sure everyone had dinner. That's what I get to do, on my day off.
We had two bats in the building today at work (one first thing and one at the end of the day). Being a sysadmin, this goes a bit beyond my normal job description... As I was the only guy in an office full of women, my job description didnt much matter.. Unfortunately the first one didn't make it, but the second one was successfully relocated outside.
