Awesome lather this morning. Fine soaps always impresses me.

The Yaqi shavette is new to the den. It arrived yesterday and according to the reviews quality control is hit and miss. The finish on this one is great but the blade was loose in the closed position and binding in the open position. I added a couple of nylon washers to the pivot area and she is smooth. The razor appears similar to the IBC shavette.

I completed two very nice complete passes and three on the neck area. No blood loss and very little feed back from the alum. The shavette does a good job but is handle heavy.

I finished the shave with some witch hazel and the Irish Chestnut.

Try and drop your angle a little.

If I’m steep with a ProGuard I figure I’m getting a raking action from the guards.

The shavette is made for 1/2 DE blades and uses a holding mechanism similar to Artist Club type razors. I had half an unused Feather on hand and loaded it up. It takes a bit of fiddling, maybe due to the bend from snapping. I’ll find out when I move to the Facon branded blades. The package says they are Japanese blades, whatever that means, I’ve even used Personna industrial blades a couple of times.

I used a Derby soap stick. I have 2, at least one will probably be here when I’m gone. The soap is more than adequate, even though I’m a total Stirling fanboy.

Normal shave pattern delivered the fine results I expect on new steel. The head shape is similar to a DX but shortened by the length difference of the blade types. Handles well on the shave. It is a nice low cost shavette. It will always be in my possession to remind me of a great generous friend. Thx Danny.

Finished up with the vintage splash that is over 30 years old. I have Et Tu from PAA that is supposed to be closer to vintage Brut than modern stuff, I agree.

Finally got to BBS with no nicks, cuts or irritation. The angle with this blade is almost flat against the skin, when I get best results.
