1. the ones i have seen have it,but ..i would ask a more serious collector . @IAmTheJody :)
  2. Well....it was the long comb design which came out of Gillette's pre merger design house which survived and morphed into the Tech and TTO designs while the (superior IMHO) Short Comb, which likely was A Gaisman shop design, faded into oblivion.

  3. i like them all to be honest.i prefer the nickel plate brit rfb lc because i'm british..;)..love the new sc design as it's a classier looking than the new lc imho ,again in nickel of course.:)..just don't like the common bar handles...most of all it's fun to tease the purists..:D.i always thought the new sc baseplate design influenced the 50's post war tech baseplate, the blade clamping curvature at least.proper history aside..:eatdrink047:
  4. Don't get me started on the Common Bar Handle. I'm guessing they were able to get away with that garbage only because Nickerson had just died. He was undoubtedly rolling in his grave that Gillette would put its name on a razor with such poor balance, $1 razor or not.. The accountants won the day on that one.

I'd agree that the postwar Tech did go in the right direction toward a slightly more rigid design a la the SC.

  5. that "heritage" razor set that recently came out sure iced that cake..:D.no gillette designed head and a common bar handle.i almost bought one just for the case..i agree on the balance issue as well.i prefer the solid handles as they help with that.i do like the post war techs as daily work shavers..quick, easy mindless dfs .with the sharp nacets they work for me when i'm in a hurry.:eatdrink047:
  6. The (first issue) New Deluxe, like the New Improved before it, has perfect balance. It was a regrettable decision to saddle the later $1 customers with the CBH to save a few pennies. I sure would have bought a Micromatic instead for the same money as I expect millions chose to do.

  7. i agree.i liked my new deluxe but passed them along.i still have the one with the odd common bar handle-red and black special- as mr razer calls it,but i use my karve 3 inch handle with it.has some good heft with that handle/deluxe head.unfortunately it needs a replate and is a pain to keep polishing them..;).that and the smell of old pennies..what's your thoughts on the brit new rfb 2 piece razors? nice compromise imo..
  8. No experience with the 2 piece RFB but if it balances well I'm all for it.

I'm with you on the Karve 3 inch, I often use it or my Charcoal when I do bring out the New LC/SC.

  9. very cool..classy handle imo..fits the design well..:):eatdrink047:
  10. For the gold non-beaters I have the brass Karve and Charcoal handles. The Karve really is a superb handle (I like the handle more than the heads).

  11. i have thought about getting the deluxe head and karve handle plated in nickel.i've never tried the karve heads.not bothered about originality either.maybe in gold if it was durable.i have heard replating changes the shave?not sure.still on the fence..the razor set i miss the most was my 1935 brit belmont new deluxe 2 piece.it was too nice for me to keep.the only deluxe plated in silver i believe.do you like the new design karve handle?
  12. that is a stunning art deco design handle..love the way you display/store them.
  13. I'm not keeping up, I didn't know Karve had a new design.

It would be a beautiful replate.

  19. The lining is usually always left in there, every one I've seen, unless it is just bad damaged, ripped torn, cracked, age discolorization.... I had one that was perfect so I left it, and I had one that was cracked and torn in several places so I took it out. It's really up to you and how you want to see it in your collection.
