I think I heard somewhere that shaving the affected ‘poison’ area with an aggressive hair removal tool speeds recovery. I thought they said 3-4 passes does the trick. I’ll skip that vid.

Cool and beautiful shaver. Congrats. And, a gentle reminder not to loan it to that guy in Wincelpania that fuggets to return stuff.

Would you believe me if I said, I hope the last razor I buy is already on the way?

SOTD SUNDAY MORNING, AUGUST 15, 2021

Yesterday yours truly, being immunocompromised, had his third COVID booster at a local CVS. The only side effect was a feeling of muzzy-headedness and a sore arm. For my pick-me-up this morning I decided on a good cooling vintage shave. So I grabbed the Witte Copperhead 6/8 and my Schick Type I Hydromagic. I grabbed my TSD M-Bomb and salted my MWF pretty heavily. I knew a great mug shave was in the offing as I’d touched up the Witte on the 9 Ball slate and run it through the constroption and Roo-skin bench strop yesterday afternoon before my vaccination booster.

My faithful little Rooney badger whipped up what turned out to be a delightfully cool lather, thanks to the M-Bomb. The three pass mug shave was great despite a slight nick on my upper right ear, easily tended to with Proraso Styptic Gel. The Witte is a light, highly maneuverable little razor that’s always fun to shave with. When i first got it a few years ago, it contained a yellowed note, “honed by Henerey 1939”. It arrived NOS with that same serviceable bevel, which I’ve maintained ever since. It delivered a very smooth shave this morning.

My dome shave featured the Schick Eversharp Hydromagic, a razor I hadn’t shaved with in many months. I loaded a Schick B-20 Proline and proceeded to enjoy a very pleasant two pass ATG noggin shave. The shave was quite pleasant and left your happy narrator cue ball smooth. I finished the shave, and then washed both dome and mug with my brush squeezings. I rinsed the soap off with Humphrey’s Lilac WH. This was followed by a healthy splash of Osage Rub and finished with Cremo Cooling Balm. I feel very cool, clean and velveteen!

RAZOR: Witte Copperhead 6/8 (Mug), Schick Hydromagic Injector (Dome)
    BLADE: Schick B-20 Injector
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
    BRUSH: Rooney Finest Badger
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with a healthy splash of Osage Rub followed by Cremo Cooling Balm.

My shave this morning was OK, but could have been better. 3 reasons: 3 Knicks, all happening at South Porcupine Alley, one of which at the jawline. Nice job everywhere else. That Stoylin soap nearly became just that-soap-as I took nearly a minute to swirl it around. Was I too strong with the swirling action? It probably doesn't need a minute of swirl time, whereas others benefit by that much time. Anyway-2 passes-I think the Knicks happened during the first. I also missed that area that's been driving me crazy-just to the left of the ingrown hairs. Need to do better there.. The aftershave cooled off two of the three Knicks. Clubman Gent's Gin was the right choice for that today. This shave overall was Pretty Excellent. I'll do better tomorrow, with the same items(different brush).

While I only own two of their fragrances, this "niche" house is one of my favorites.
