Razorock Hawk solid bar plate on Weber bulldog handle.
    Feather Professional blade
    Razorock 400 synthetic brush
    Razorock P160 shave soap
    Royal Copenhagen cologne

Excellent lather...the P160 just delivers the goods.

This the the Hawk I purchased from Jeff @jgreenepa and man is it a smooth razor. Razorock is great at delivering value and this AC style razor is no exception. A very smooth shave with very little feedback from the alum. I enjoy my Hawks and I need to be using them more.

I hope everyone has a great day! Things are busy for me but I'm still hanging in there.

    Hello all
I'm pretty gone most of the time and I feel I should give back as much as possible.
Seeing as this group has done so much for my shave building.
I've picked up a inexpensive...well cheap razor to report on in case someone is in need of such a tool to get them by.
    20210818_192313.jpg
The razor with 2 blades were bought from Family Dollar for 7 dollars and some change.
I didn't use the blades that were supplied with it so I could do a comparison with my normal blade.
    Feather blades were used instead.
I'll see how the supplied blades compare over the weekend when time allows.
The mechanism that operates the barn doors seem cheap but usable.
I could see how overtightening may ruin it.
The chrome coating looks cheap as expected for a razor of this price range.
The coating does seem even and has good coverage.
The handle is long enough, but I like a long handle.
The entire razor is lighter than most Gillette razors of the same genre.
Shaving with it would compare to a blue tip although somewhat lighter. It's easy to find the angle for good blade action if you ride the cap and easy to keep that angle on both face and head.
Not an overly efficient tool, but not a slouch either.
I had to snug the knob that tightens the barn doors a couple time because they loosened a bit during my first shave.
The second shave this wasn't an issue.
    Not sure why.
The grip was sufficient and I had no problems with this style of handle.
A cheap tool ... oh yea.
But I wouldn't have any qualms using this for a week or two if I had my normal blades.
Not sure of the quality control on the thing because I bought the only one on the shelf.
    Verdict.
Cheap, but sufficient, if a good blade is used.
    No fear in using it.
I got a good 2 pass shave with no issues.

    All
    Enjoy!

Looks similar to the Assured Razor that can be bought at The Dollar Store for $1 with blades. Sounds like similar results too. May as well save $6 more if looking for a cheap alternative :happy088:

    Thanks Dave.
    It does look the same.
But there are more dollar general stores than the dollar stores.
The only real difference I can only see that the $7 shavelly razor has a longer handle than the $1 assured razor.

I do find that the wet shaving community shy away from these cheap razors for different reasons.
    Mostly fear of the unknown.
I get as good of shave with these razors as I do with other razors of the same type.
That's why I reported on this razor.
No reason why anyone can't buy one and learn the art.

    Shavette Shave # 145

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Tedalus Essence
    Blade: Feather Pro Super
Brush: Hembree Derlin Paragon Boar 25 mm
    Lather: PAA Boomtown Bay Rum
    Aftershave: PAA Boomtown Bay Rum
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Nivea Cool Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

I went digging through my “TryThatBlade” inventory to discover a Feather Super. At the urging of Jeff, @Jgreenpa, I decided to give this blade a ride in the Essence.

The Feather covers the full length of the blade holder. The balance of the Essence is superb no matter which blade you use.

I did my usually three passes and received a wonderfully close and comfortable shave. The alum report we relatively nonexistent. Is the shave with the Feather better than with the GSD of the pst few days? From my face feel, I would say it is a draw. I believe user technique with respect for the blade leads to an excellent shave . The well balanced Tedalus Essence just makes it easier to attain the consistency in getting a great shave.
Hope you had a great day gentlemen.

I believe all shave info is good to bring it to the attention of other shavers. Besides the two aforementioned razors would make great travel razors. If they get stolen, then you are out 7 bucks at the most.

Cold water face wash with brush squeezings, Cold Water Face Rinse. /Homemade (~Spring/Summer mix~) Lemon, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Essential Oils. +3 Menthol Crystals Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel./Arko Comfort ASB.

    Greetings,

    Early morning shave,

The Ming Shi 2000s has performed wonderfully throughout the week providing me with comfortable enjoyable shaves and have paired together with the SuperShave X Platinum superbly of which i intend to continue using for the next few weeks or more.

The Frankensoap lathered up in short space of time, remaining stable without dissipating on my face providing a 'citrusy-lemon-medicinal scented' lather with great slickness & protection for each pass leaving a good adequate post shave feel without drying my rhino type mature skin out... A Enjoyable 2 pass + pick ups close comfortable shave with no errors to report...Finishing to the shave off with a small dollop of Arko Comfort ASB.

My face is feeling smooth cool, & smelling divine.;)

Keep safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

Terry, I agree on all your comments. I did the "Assured Razor" Challenge at another forum and supplied 10 of them to various members. Still have mine. After many uses some find they rusted internally and froze or the head became misaligned do to the cheap quality. ALL agreed that if careful with a good one it would be a perfect travel razor and gave good shaves with proper technique. Nice post !

Very nice shave with a generic razor. I have one from the Dollar Store that I paid $1.99. It serves it’s purpose with decent shaves. Periodically during the shave I have to check the TTO to make sure it is tight.
